This weekend’s hosts put up an almighty defeat last weekend going down 40-45 to the Bulls in Kimberley. Centre. Andre Swarts was the star of the show as he bagged two tries and broke the Bulls defensive line on a number of occasions. The combative midfielder will play a key role for the Griquas again this coming weekend.
The Griquas will need to sure up their defensive line if they are to register their first win of the season. The hosts have conceded a mammoth 149 points from their opening three games and currently have a negative points differential of 49.
Free State
The Cheetahs would have been confident of putting in a solid display against the Lions last week after narrowly going down to the Sharks in Round 3 of the competition. Instead, the men from the Free State were given an absolute rugby lesson as the Lions tore them apart on the way to running out 47-14.
Like the Griquas, the Cheetahs have been extremely porous on defence conceding a whopping 146 from their first four games at an average of 36.5 points per game. They have also struggled with ball-in-hand this term and have only managed to score more than 20 points in one of their fixtures.
Verdict: Griquas 1/7
This should be a high-scoring game with both sides lacking any real defensive structure. My money is on the hosts taking it by seven points or more.
