Race 5

GRENADO won his maiden race last time out when dropping down from seven furlongs to be victorious over this c&d by nearly two lengths. He finished strongly that day and from his wide gate twelve, he is likely to be eased out of the race in the early stages and then start picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages of the contest. HINCHBEAST jumped awkwardly and was then crowded shortly after the start before ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, just over three lengths behind the winner. He has his peak run here after returning from a 33 week rest and from his handy draw two, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. HEAD ON UP is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had the three runs to date and had finished second in her first two runs before winning by a half length last time out over five furlongs when returning from a 19 week rest. She is drawn one outside the latter and clearly has some ability. She should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 6

MAJOR ARTIE went from jump to wire to win by just under a length last time out when stepping up to the mile journey. He kicked clear entering the home straight that day and then held off all the later challengers in the dash down to the winning post. He jumps from gate three and is likely to adopt similar tactics today. SAFFIANO has his consistency rewarded with a just under a length victory last time out over seven furlongs. He stayed on well that day and the form of the race has been franked. He will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but he seems sure to turn in another honest performance here. GAME OF THORNS is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She had finished third in her two runs over 1500M and a mile respectively before ending up in second place last time out over a mile, just under half a length adrift of the winner, this despite spreading a shoe. She faces the widest draw of them all, but is likely to be doing her best work late and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

Although STARSPANGLED RODEO is recorded as finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, he was just under two lengths off the winner when returning from a 30 week absence. He jumped awkwardly and then overraced in the early stages, but then made good late progress in the closing stages of the race. He has pulled gate three and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. HE’S A HOTSHOT is seldom far off the action, culminating with a 1.3L victory in his last outing over six furlongs. He hit the front at the 150M pole that day and then drew clear of the opposition over the latter stages. He jumps from draw six and should be right up there when they hit the line. LANCASTER BOMBER’S last three runs over this trip have been solid, finishing fourth in his latest start, just a length behind the winner. He did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, so that effort was encouraging. He is sure to put his pole position to good use.

Race 8

Today’s best bet, NOSEY followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a staying on fourth last time out over this c&d, just over a half length back from the winner. He had to be steadied at the 400M mark that day and then came four wide into the straight, but then finished off his race strongly. The form of that race has stood up well and he jumps from gate seven. MARWAY goes for this hat-trick after winning his last start over five furlongs by a head, this despite having to be steadied at the 400M pole. He is drawn the widest of them all, but with a bit of luck in running today, he could threaten the former. EL COHETE has finished closer to the winner in his last three runs, the latest when fifth over five furlongs, one length back from the victor. He was in last position turning into the home straight that day, but ran on powerfully over the closing stages. He has a handy draw three and if he has continued down that same path of improvement, he should be respected in this line-up.
