Race 5

With the late scratchings of two of her main rivals, the door may have been opened for SPRING NYMPH to record her second career victory. She is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she made good improvement to win her maiden race last time out over six furlongs by two lengths. She has cracked pole position and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. FORT MYER takes a step up in trip after trying to go from jump to wire before ending up in fifth place last time out over seven furlongs, just under four lengths behind the winner. He has gate seven and could be the biggest danger to the top choice. TYCOON PLAYER was a tad disappointing when dropping down to 1350M last time out, finishing fifth, nearly five lengths back from the victor, but did finish second over this c&d in his penultimate outing, just a short-head behind the winner. He is drawn one inside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

RESONARE won by nearly eight lengths over this c&d three runs back and then followed that up with two second place finishes, one over the c&d and the latest over ten furlongs, 0.4L back from the winner. From his draw six, he is likely to turn in another honest performance. HARADIFY finished second in his last start over 1700M, just under a length behind the winner and did finish third in his penultimate outing over this c&d, a neck behind the winner. His draw two will do him no harm. MODERN FAMILY steps up in trip after making good late progress in the closing stages of his last run over a mile to end up in fifth place, 2.7L behind the winner. On that effort he should have no issue going the extra ground on offer here. He jumps from one gate outside the top pick.

Race 7

HEART VANDELAY followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a staying on second place finish next time out over 1100M, three lengths back from the winner. He has his peak run here after returning from a 15 week break and has a handy draw five. HALCYON DAYS also won his penultimate start, but in his case, over 1100M and then finished nineth next time out over six furlongs, 7.3L back from the victor. It should however be noted that he was hanging out in the straight and the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from gate seven and should be right up there when they hit the line. DER SIEGER disappointed when ending up in sixth place in his latest run over 1500M, just over seven lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 14 weeks. He returns here without having the benefit of a barrier trial so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but he did win over this c&d three runs back and from gate four, he should be taken seriously in this line-up.

Race 8

DE VEGA PEACH won her penultimate run over this c&d by some two and a half lengths and then raced wide when finishing fifth in her next start over this trip, six and a half lengths behind the winner. She has pulled draw two and is made the value bet on the program. AFTER THE STORM is drawn even better in pole position and finished fourth last time out over five furlongs, 3.8L back from the winner. She will get 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause. AWESOME POWER has her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over six furlongs by nearly four lengths. She takes on stronger and will have to negotiate a wide gate fourteen, but nevertheless she should be included in all bets
