Race 5

BLEU ZEBRA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed solid improvement when finishing a length and a half third last time out over this c&d. She was hampered at the 400M mark that day and did well to finish as close to the winner as she did. The form of that race has stood up well and she has her peak run here after returning from a 16 week rest. From gate eight and with a trouble-free run, she looks to be the one to side with in this line-up. INCHEON EXPRESS has only had the two outings to date, winning on debut by five lengths over five furlongs and then finishing third next time out over the same distance, just a length behind the winner. He is drawn one inside the top choice and returns from a 23 week break, but did finish fourth in his only barrier trial. He has his first run for his new trainer and if fully settled into his new yard, he could trouble the top pick. AZZAREACH has also had just the two outings, winning first time out over five furlongs and then finishing fifth next time out over the same trip, six lengths behind the victor. He returns from a 21 rest, but did win his only barrier trial to prove his well-being. From gate four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 6

INDIAN DREAMER had his consistency rewarded with a one length victory last time out over a mile. He finished strongly that day after coming five wide into the straight. He gets to jump from a handy draw four and retains the services of ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. As such, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. SMART METEOR finished seventh in his last outing when dropping down to seven furlongs, just over five lengths adrift of the victor, but finished second in his penultimate start over a mile, just one length behind the winner. The form of that race has been franked and starting from one gate inside the top choice, he is viewed as his biggest danger. HOPEFUL STAR is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has won two out of her last three starts, the latest over this c&d by a head. She made good late progress in that contest and from gate seven, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

KINGSTON’S HERE finished second on debut over five furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner and then followed up that effort with a short-head win next time out over the same trip when returning from a 21 week absence. He clearly has some ability and although taking on stronger here, he should still have further improvement to come. He jumps from a handy gate two and could prove good enough to complete his double. DRAGON MISS is a 3yr old filly taking on boys and who is drawn one outside the former. She is seldom far the action and did win her last start over 1100M by half a length. She has posted two wins and two second place finishes in her last five outings and looks likely to turn in another honest performance today. BOOM SPENDER followed up two fourth place finishes over today’s trip with a neck victory over five furlongs next time out when returning from a 17 week absence. He will have to negotiate draw eight, but he should be right up there in the mix.

Race 8

SOUBRETTE is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She won her penultimate run over six furlongs by a length and then finished third in her next start over this c&d, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day, but still stayed on well over the closing stages. She faces draw seven, but is seen as the value bet on the program. HERITAGE SASH showed marked improvement in his last outing, finishing second over the c&d, 0.4L behind the victor. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only run out of it very late. He is drawn one inside the top pick and a repeat of that effort should see him challenge the former in the dash down to the wire. REUS has his first run after a 20 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest. He drops in distance after three runs over a mile, winning three runs back and finishing fourth in his latest, just under a length behind the winner. He has cracked pole position and should be included in all bets.
