Race 4

Today’s value bet, POULTON LE SANDS followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a seventh place finish when dropping to the ten furlong journey, six lengths behind the winner. He stayed on well that day and reverts back to what would appear to be a more suitable eleven furlongs. He will have to negotiate a wide gate ten, but he should be right up there when they hit the line. SAVVY CROWN raced three wide from the 600M mark and then hung in the home straight before ending up in second spot last time out over this distance, five and a half lengths back from the winner. He jumps from draw seven and could be the biggest danger to the top choice. LA GRISA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She came wide into the straight before finishing ninth last time out over twelve furlongs at this venue, just over six lengths behind the victor, but he did finish second in his penultimate start over the c&d, just a head adrift of the winner. He is drawn one inside the latter and should make his presence felt in this line-up.

Race 5

EXOTIC RUBY made solid improvement in her last outing when finishing a head second over 1100M. She has cracked pole position and renews her rivalry with SALLY’S DAY who finished fourth in that same race, 1.8L behind the winner. The latter has consistent formlines to her name, but as she is only 1kg better off with the top choice on today’s weight terms for that 1.6L beating, she may have to settle for the same result. She is also drawn wider out at gate seven. IRISH ANGEL made good late progress in the closing stages to finish second last time out when reverting to the minimum trip, just a head behind the winner. She has the widest draw of them all in gate ten, but she should appreciate the extra ground on offer today and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

With the late scratching of one of his main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet, TRAVEST to chalk up his third career victory. He is seldom far off the action and although he is recorded as finishing seventh in his last start over seven furlongs, he was just over two and a half lengths back from the winner. He was staying on well that day and the form of that race has been franked. AWESOME LAD missed out on his hat-trick when finishing second last time out over today’s distance, 1.3L behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered well to finish stronger over the latter stages. He has a handy draw two and will be hoping to get back to winning ways today. CATAPULT had his consistency rewarded with a head victory last time out over seven furlongs. He also jumped awkwardly that day, but battled all the way down to the wire to collar the frontrunners in the shadow of the post. He is drawn one outside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

CELER has finished second in his last two runs over this c&d since returning from a 19 week break, the latest when just over a length behind the winner. He jumps from a handy gate four and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. BORN A WARRIOR won his penultimate start over six furlongs by three and a half lengths, then finished fourth next time out when dropping down to the 1100M trip, nearly two lengths behind the winner. He is drawn in gate seven and may do better now that he reverts back to the longer six furlong dash. NEWSREADER is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she showed marked improvement to win her last outing over six furlongs by 2.3L when dropping down from the seven furlongs journey of her previous two starts. She will have to deal with a wide draw ten out of twelve, but she should be right up there in the mix if repeating that last effort.
