Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: WARREN PLACE(3)
Jockey: Xolani NDLOVU – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

WARREN PLACE has come well in recent starts and his conditioner is still working out the optimum trip for his charge. The son of Elusive Fort finished 3rd over six furlongs three starts ago and then he ran on for the same position when hard ridden over ten furlongs, ten days ago. The cut-back to the mile should be right up his alley, solely due to him being equipped with blinkers and the chestnut gelding should produce another smart effort. He has cracked pole position on his polytrack debut.

Race 3: LA MYST(1)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN – Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

The long-time ultra-consistent maiden LA MYST deserves her ‘day in the sun’ and her conditioner has found the perfect race for her. She was given a smart ride despite being outrun late into 2nd over a mile on this track a fortnight ago. The daughter of Lateral comfortably beat most of today’s rivals on that occasion and she is proven over this extra distance. She is mostly capable with handy tactics and in a race that is void of pace, she could make all the running.

Race 6: ORIENTAL TIGER(5)
Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

ORIENTAL TIGER may have just needed his comeback run in a competitive line-up on this track last time and he will strip much fitter now. He is weighted to be involved in the finish and has the gate speed to overcome his wide draw.

Race 7: BUENOS AIRES(10)

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

BEUNOS AIRES is unbeaten from two efforts on this track and he is in decent touch, having run on steadily for 3rd over seven furlongs on the grass, three weeks ago. He meets another competitive field today but he has a definite affinity for this surface and can remain undefeated here. He has the early speed to overcome his wide draw and should give a good account of himself.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: MAGIC ICE(11)
Jockey: Eldin WEBBER – Trainer: Duncan MCKENZIE

This is another wide open low-key handicap but MAGIC ICE could represent decent each/way value. The three-year-old son of Latino Magic showed good improvement when first arriving in this province and after two poor post maiden runs, he wasn’t disgraced at novice level after his jockey’s saddle slipped last time out. He was docked three pounds in his rating subsequently and can make further progress from his decent draw at this handicap level.
