Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: CABINDA(1)
Race 2: ARRAN ISLES(1)
Race 5: EL BOMBERO(9)
Race 7: ROY’S PAST(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: CABINDA(1)
Jockey: Sifiso LEMBETHE – Trainer: Michael ROBERTS

The ultra-consistent CABINDA has finished runner-up in his last five consecutive starts, the recent two being over this c & d. He was gaining quickly earlier this month and the 3rd placed finisher Almost Human gave that form a boost with a subsequent easy win over weaker. This son of Seventh Rock is undoubtedly overdue his maiden victory but quite surprisingly, he isn’t equipped with blinkers this evening. Nevertheless, he is the standout on form and should again go very close.
Race 2: ARRAN ISLES(1)
Jockey: Morne WINNAAR – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

ARRAN ISLES quickly bounced back to form when she ran on well for 2nd over this c & d a fortnight ago, despite racing green once more. She wasn’t far ahead of the limited frontrunner SONIC A P that day but has much more scope for improvement and should be very competitive in this weakish field. Unfortunate- ly, the Kannemeyer inmate has another wide draw to contend with.

TOP BET
Race 6: SAZERAC(6)
Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

SAZERAC relished the rise in ground as she showed smart improvement when finishing strongly for a close 2nd over this c & d, five weeks ago. She was in turn, just over one length in front of the 3rd placed runner, ROY’S KAITRINA that day but the Drier inmate has more scope for progress and she is a huge contender tonight.
Race 8: PLYMOUTH ROCK(12)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Doug CAMPBELL

This is another moderate maiden contest where caution is advised. However, the three-year old gelding PLYMOUTH ROCK is coming along the right way and he could be the standout from his good draw. The Mogok gelding should have finished closer on his fair sprint debut on this surface and he then relished the rise up to the mile when making steady progress for 4th on the grass, second time out. The runner-up of that event, Patroculus boosted the formline with a subsequent victory and there should be more to come from this bay who is once again drawn well. The slight worry is that his yard hasn’t had a winner for quite a while.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: SOUL OF SPAIN(4)
Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The CATHERINEOFARAGON c & d formline on 02/12 could be worth following in this low-key fillies and mares handicap where SOUL OF SPAIN could represent decent each/way value. This is the daughter of Toreador’s best distance and despite a slow start and having to switch in the closing stages, she was finishing well for 4th, beaten just under two lengths in the above-mentioned contest. She flopped over further subsequently but is weighted to finish closer to her conqueror this time around. Her wide draw isn’t an issue as she can come from off the speed.
