Happy Valley: Best Bets & Tips- 2 June 2021

Racing this Wednesday sees an entertaining card at Happy Valley Racecourse which includes the running of nine competitive handicaps. The best bet, value bet and bi-pot must be followed closely.

VALUE BET – SWOT TROOPERS WIND ridden by D. Leung

BEST BET – H Z TOURBILLON ridden by K. Teetan

Race 1 – Time: 12:45      Class 5 Handicap – 1000m

Selections: 1/11/2

VALIANT ELEGANCE brings the most consistent form into this opening contest. He has placed in his last three outings to date and if overcoming his wide draw, should give another good account of himself. FLYING MONKEY hung at the 400m mark last time and is much better than that effort suggests. He looks fairly handicapped and from pole position, can bounce back to some of his best form.

Race 2 – Time: 13:15      Class 4 Handicap – 1000m

Selections: 2/3/11

AMAZING ROCKY cost himself when shifting in the closing stages last time. He seems to be over his previous issues and from pole position, should give a good account of himself. The South African-bred SUPER COMMANDER dictated terms well last time when only passed in the latter stages. He is drawn wide and if getting across without using up too much energy, can run into the money. HAPPILY FRIENDS has placed in his last two outings and was narrowly beaten at the wire last time. He looks fairly handicapped once again and could be one to cause an upset.

Race 3 – Time: 13:45      Class 4 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 5/4/3

HERO STAR followed up his most recent win with a decent effort on this course. He is in a rich vein of form and gets Purton in the saddle who may be able to coax extra out of him where it matters most. AMBITIOUS HEART received a bump at the 350m mark and then shifted at the 250 mark to find a clear run. He is likely to settle a bit closer to the pace today and can pick up the pieces, should the top choice fluff his lines.

Race 4 – Time: 14:15      Class 4 Handicap – 1650m

Selections: 8/7/1

EL VALIENTE finished well last time despite racing on heels and being cramped for galloping room. It is encouraging that Poon has kept faith in the ride and with better luck in running, has the ability to win this contest. ERNEST FEELING cut throats in-front last time when tiring at the 350m mark. He is a horse that is still on-the-up and on his penultimate run, must have a say. DREAM WARRIORS shoulders top weight and brings consistent form into this race. He is drawn wide, which is a slight concern as he often gets trapped wide in his races.

Race 5 – Time: 14:45      Class 4 Handicap  – 1200m

Selections: 9/4/8

FORTUNE HERO utilised front-running tactics effectively last time when holding off all challengers at bay. He is likely to get across from his wide draw without using up too much energy and may be difficult to peg back in the closing stages. NOBLE DESIRE should have won last time by further than the margin suggests. He was crowded for galloping room and despite racing without cover, got up where it matters most. FORTUNE CARRIER produced a career-best performance last time and a repeat, should see him finish in the money.

Race 6 – Time: 15:15      Class 4 Handicap – 1800m

Selections: 9/3/1

SWOT TROOPERS WIND moved up like a winner last time and was passed just before the 100m mark. He won his penultimate start on this course and definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. METHANE has found one better in his last two outings. He is a sort that runs from off the pace and if not too far back when turning for home, will be right there at the business end.

Race 7 – Time: 15:45      Class 3 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 7/6/3

EVER FORCE was given every chance by Teetan in his last start to reel off the hat-trick of wins. He moved up with intent on that occasion and was passed in the final furlong. He is a really-progressive sort and should find himself back in the winner’s enclosure. THE RUNNER raced wide without cover last time and still managed to stay on strongly at the business end. He won his penultimate start on this course and merits healthy respect. HIGH RISE SOLDIER has cracked pole position and won his penultimate start under Ho. If repeating that type of effort, he can run into the money.

Race 8 – Time: 16:15      Class 3 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 11/2/12

H Z TOURBILLON is the best bet on the card. He finished well last time despite experiencing an awkward start and over-racing. He shoulders a light weight, is still on the upgrade and looks set to get back to winning ways. KINDA COOL finished runner-up and also took a bump at the start last time. He is likely to settle just off the pace and will be doing his best work where it matters most.

Race 9 – Time: 16:50      Class 3 Handicap – 1650m

Selections: 2/1/6

HALL OF CHAMP won his last start well under Shinn despite reportedly having a minor laceration. He is well-drawn and if handling the step up in distance, should make his presence felt in the lucky last. BEAUTY FIT was a narrow winner last time and shoulders top weight. He showed guts/determination and there is plenty more to come from this individual. If overcoming his wide draw, he should be able to challenge the top selection.
