Race 3: FERRARI ICE (6)
Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Kannemeyer D
FERRARI ICE lost two lengths at the start on debut, but the manner in which he ran on in the closing stages caught the eye. The son of Querari would have come on with the run under his belt and will enjoy the extra distance on offer. He has his first start on the turf and if suited, should take a power of beating.
Race 5: ELUSIVE CURRENT (7)
Jockey: Kennedy W – Trainer: Van Zyl G
ELUSIVE CURRENT ran a very good race in her last start over a mile on this course. She was carried inwards that day which didn’t help her chances. Warren Kennedy retains the ride aboard the daughter of Elusive Fort and with a bit of luck in running, should be the one they all have to beat.
Race 6: LADY OF LUTETIA (1)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Lafferty P
LADY OF LUTETIA’S last start can be completely ignored as she had absolutely no luck up the straight. Her form prior to that outing was decent and the manner in which she races suggests that she will enjoy the step up to the 1950m. Anton Marcus takes the ride aboard the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade and from pole position, should be the one they all have to beat.
Race 7: BAYVIEW EXPRESS (4)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Govender Y
BAYVIEW EXPRESS is a winner of his last two starts. He took the lead at the 200m mark that day and drew off well. The son of Jackson is highly rated and tries the twelve furlongs for the first time. If he sees out the extra distance on offer, he should notch up the hat-trick.
Jockey: Veale S – Trainer: Drier D
CROISETTE has been disappointing since her comfortable win on debut over this distance at Kenilworth. She does however return from a 25-week break during which time she would have strengthened up. She carries just 53kgs on her return to racing and with Sean Veale back in the saddle, she could get back to winning ways.
