HOLLYWOOD THUNDER has finished second in her last two starts, beaten a neck on both occasions and will be hoping to go one better this afternoon. She cast a shoe in her last start over six furlongs and is sure to enjoy the drop back to the minimum distance. She has a wideish draw to overcome, but she is a speedy sort who should use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

RACE 4: ASCENDING HEIGHTS (9)

Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: A Greef

ASCENDING HEIGHTS is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she won her last start over this c&d only to lose the race in the boardroom. She has a handy draw and will be looking to exit the maiden ranks on merit this afternoon.

Race 5: FOOLS GARDEN (6)

Jockey: T Gould – Trainer: A Greef

FOOLS GARDEN and WOODSTOCK FAIRY renew their rivalry here. The former stumbled in her last outing, but still finished strongly to beat the latter by half a length over a mile. She is 0.5kgs worse off at today’s weights, but that might not be enough for the tables to be turned here. The pair are both from the in-form Alan Greeff yard and could give the stable the exacta.

Race 7: PHILOS (1)

Jockey: T Gould – Trainer: A Greef

PHILOS followed up his penultimate runs win over this trip with a solid performance over 1400M on the poly. He stayed on well that day despite hanging in the latter stages. He is drawn the widest, but he seems to have struck up a good partnership with today’s jockey, Teaque Gould and the pair will be looking to record another victory here.

RACE 8: DUKE OF CARDS (4)
Jockey: T Gould – Trainer: A Greef

The Alan Greeff yard could have another one, two in the last race on today’s programme, with DUKE OF CARDS the slight preference. The gelding won his last start on this course and seems to be much better suited to sprinting at this stage of his career. He took a bump at the 200M in that race, but still fought back to win in a tight finish. From a handy draw, he could repeat that last victory. The one surprise is that the blinkers he wore last time out are removed.
