SEXY CINDERELLA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she returns from a 10 week rest after being narrowly beaten in her first attempt on this surface. She showed pace that day over this distance and was only collared in the shadow of the post. A repeat of that effort would make her the one to beat here.

Race 2: CONCEALED SECRET (4)

Jockey: N Patel – Trainer: S Von Willingh

CONCEALED SECRET and MANHATTAN COCKTAIL renew their rivalry this afternoon. The former finished one length behind the latter in their last clash over six furlongs, but is 2.5kgs better off at today’s weights, thanks to his claiming apprentice’s allowance.

Race 4: CRIMSON CASTLE (4)
Jockey: J Greyling – Trainer: P Matchett

A weak F&M Maiden Plate faces punters here and some caution is advised. CRIMSON CASTLE raced handy but wide in her penultimate outing over a mile at this venue. She fought on gamely to finish just behind the winner that day and if she can confirm that effort, she could be the one to side with here. She is however carded to run on 18 January and her performance in that race will need to be checked.

Race 6: BRIGHT FLAME (1)

Jockey: M van Rensburg – Trainer: C Miller

BRIGHT FLAME has his second run after a break and starts from a mid-field draw. The gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise when attempting his hat-trick last time out and will be hoping to get back to winning ways today.

Jockey: J Penny – Trainer: J Rugg

MANAFTERMIDNIGHT was slow into stride in his last start over a mile, but was running on well despite shifting in the closing stages. He gets the same 4kg claiming in the irons today and he will be hoping to ride his first winner aboard the gelding.
