IT’S GOING DOWN TO THE WIRE IN THE HOLLYWOODBETS SIZZLING SUMMER CHALLENGE
Anton Marcus just nosed ahead of Warren Kennedy in the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge after riding a treble at Hollywoodbets Greyville yesterday.
The meeting, which was moved from Hollywoodbets Scottsville due to overnight rainfall in Pietermaritzburg, still saw Durbanites bear the cold and come out in their numbers.
Marcus’s treble started in race two when he dead heated on EXPLOSIVE BEAUTY. He then went on to win on comfortably on ARIZONA SUNSET in the fourth for trainer Kumaran Naidoo before winning the Michael Roberts Handicap on G G’S DYNASTY in the seventh.
The treble by Marcus with a few places saw him accumulate 55.5 points and take his tally to 712.5, points two points ahead of Winning Form sponsored Kennedy who has 710.5.
Kennedy didn’t manage a winner yesterday, but still managed to accumulate 53.5 points from his seven rides.
In the trainers log Hollywoodbets sponsored trainer Garth Puller closed the gap on Paul Lafferty to just 5 points after his double yesterday when upsetting two odds on favourites. He first opened the meeting with MISS CHARLOTTE beating the Lafferty trained LADY OF LUTETIA and then went to win on GEORGINA ROSE in the sixth which saw him accumulate 51.5 points and finish the day on 780.5 points.
Lafferty managed one winner on EXPLOSIVE BEAUTY this win saw the filly remain in second place in the horse’s log of the competition.
On the horses log one of the big movers was JAYDEN’S SHREYA as she moved up in to third place on the log after her third place finish in the last race which sees her just 13 points behind the leader BINT EL MALAK.
The next meeting of the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge sees racing head to Hollywoodbets Scottsville this Sunday.
