Best Bet: IMPERIALISM (Race 2)
Value Bet: GOLDEN ACRES (Race 7)

The best bet comes in Race 2 in the form of IMPERIALISM who finished second in his first two starts. He meets the right field today and may be hard to beat. The jockey to follow on the day is Alan Kennedy who has a good book of rides.

Race 1
MISS FLAMBOYANCE is a filly taking on males, but she has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. Her record over this distance is decent with two second-place finishes and a third from five starts. If repeating her run on 12 October last year, she should be the one they all have to beat. EL CARDERO showed good signs of a form return in his last start over nine furlongs on this course. The drop back to the mile should not pose any issues as he has finished third over the trip in the past. Should the top rating fluff her lines, he may be the one that will pick up the pieces.

Race 2
IMPERIALISM is the best bet on today’s card. He has finished runner-up in both of his career outings thus far. He has shown good speed in both his efforts to date and in this type of field, may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. ROBYN’S SON could be the one to complete the exacta. He is a 6yr old gelding that has decent recent form to his name. He was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages of the race. He has placed once over this distance and should race on the speed. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 3
STRONG HEART looked a winner in his last start, but was swamped in the final 100m of that race. He is trying the distance for the first time and if given a chance early in the race, he should have not problems seeing out the extra. His best form has been in the dry going and if the going is on top, he may be the one to side with here. EVERYMILE A MEMORY is a mare taking on the males. She hit the line well in her last start over this distance when finishing just over two lengths behind the winner. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. On best form shown, she may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.

Race 4
DEFIANTLY has been touched off in her last two starts over this type of distance. She was unlucky not to have won her last race as she didn’t get the clearest of passages up the home straight. She is having her first run on this track and if suited to the course, she may get her consistency rewarded this afternoon. FREEZ’EMOFF should have won her last start over a mile on this course, but she hung in closing stages of that race. Kyra Yuill who has had success aboard the daughter of Frost Giant in the past keeps the ride and if she is able to keep her on a straight line today, she may be the one to challenge for top honours.

Race 5
SITDOWN BE HUMBLE has produced two good runs since returning from a 36-week break. He peeled four wide into the straight in his last start and may have cost himself winning by hanging in the straight. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. If keeping to a straight course, he should be the one they all have to beat. MISS ZEDEL is a filly taking on the boys and could be the one to cause the upset. She has good consistent recent form to her name. She runs well on this course with a record of two wins, a second and a third-place finish from five outings. Katherine Southam steps into the saddle and the pair cannot be ignored.

Race 6
RUBY JEAN made the expected natural improvement to break her maiden at the second time of asking. She does try the seven furlongs for the first time and takes on stronger opposition, but she is lightly raced and looks to have plenty of scope about her. Her biggest danger could be ECHO STAR who is a 6yr old mare from the Tony Scally stable. Her last two starts have been fair, but her record over this course and distance is good with a win and a second-place finish from as many outings. Jerry Noske retains the ride this afternoon and the pair should pose a threat to the top selection.

Race 7
GOLDEN ACRES is the value bet on today’s card and is much better than his last start suggests. He produced two fair efforts prior to that race, but the run that catches is that of 14 December when he finished runner-up just 0.25 lengths behind the winner over seven furlongs on this course. He jumps from a handy draw of four today and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to cause the upset. HOT STYLE won his last start over seven furlongs in this class. He runs well on this track with a record of five wins, three seconds and a third-place finish from fifteen outings. His regular pilot Kyra Yuill knows him well and the pair merit obvious inclusion.

Race 8
MIDNIGHT ROCKET caught the eye with a strong finish in his last start over 1100m on this course last time. He steps back up to the six furlongs today and if repeating his previous run, he should be hard to beat in this line-up. THE FULL QUID is a filly taking on the males. She was given a 14-week break before winning her maiden over this course and distance last time out. She does take on a much stronger field today, but the manner in which she won last time suggests that there is more to come from this daughter of Ouqba. She is having her second run after a rest today and merits healthy respect.

Race 9
BLANKENBERGE looks hard to beat in this contest having won her last two starts well over this course and distance under today’s pilot Alan Kennedy. She raced from a handy position in her last start, switched at the 225m mark and caught the frontrunners in the shadow of the post. From her good draw of two, she looks to have a good chance of notching up the hat-trick. UNIVERSAL APPEAL’S last two starts have been fair. She is likely to race up with the speed early and on best form shown, she looks likely to be one of the lively contenders in this contest.
