XPONENTIAL
benefitted from the drop back to this trip from a much-improved draw last time
out. That was just his fourth career start and he lands another plum draw where
he looks set to double his win tally. Chad Schofield jumps back aboard the son
of Equiano after picking up the ride in that debut win and he’ll be the one to
beat here. BREEZE OF SPRING hasn’t
been disgraced in his last two starts, after picking up his first win here. He
finds a much-improved draw this time and the drop back to the 1200m will suit.
The cheek pieces are replaced with a visor this time and with the 2-pound claim
to aid his chances, he must be included. HARD
PROMISE
appears to have landed on a competitive mark in the ratings and he
will be looking to build on that solid last run when going handy from a wide
draw. With this being his fourth outing since dropping into this class he looks
ready to win soon. SHINING ON has
also slipped in the ratings and he finally lands a draw where he won’t be
completely reliant on luck in running. Joao Moreira takes the mount on the son
of O’Reilly and he has the credentials to go right into contention.
Race 2 – 07:30 –
1650m – Class 3 – All Weather
Selections: 7 – 4 – 1
– 2 – 5
The first of two contests on the All-Weather appears to be a
wide-open affair. LONDON LUCKYSTAR
gave a very good account of himself when showing good improvement last time
out, which happened to be his first attempt on the All-Weather. Drawn wide, he
found plenty of traffic but did well to rally late for a well-deserved second
and the much-improved draw will bring him right into the equation here. The
inform Antoine Hamelin takes the mount on the 4-year old and he should be worth
following. CLEAR CHOICE has been in
solid form since returning to this surface four starts back. From gate 8 he
will be looking to sit just off the leading line and with Zac Purton up this
time he looks a major contender. PING
HAI TREASURE
doesn’t have an easy draw, but he is reunited with Joao
Moreira who will be looking to guide him into a forward position in the early
stages. With this being just his second start this season, he should strip a
lot fitter 2nd up and can add to that useful record over this course
and distance. HANDSOME BO BO has
only had the one start on this surface, and he went close to winning. That was
three starts back, over 1200m. With the 5-pound claimer up he looks an
interesting contender over the extra and could upset.
Race 3 – 08:00 –
1200m – Class 4 – Turf
Selections: 6 – 2 –
10 – 1 – 12
A tricky race greets punters in the third, where three contenders
have debuts in a field that represents some modest form. ILUVATAAR is one of those debutantes and an early talking horse.
The son of Makfi doesn’t have to be a super star to win this and he could be
worth following first up. DECISIVE
TWELVE
is drawn wide for this step up to the 1200m after finding
favouritism in both of his runs so far. The trip shouldn’t be an issue, but he
will be looking for luck in running and if finding some, he could feature. GENERAL TRUMP reverts back to the Turf
after winning his penultimate start in his first attempt on the All-Weather. He
will be looking to repeat the run prior to that win, when performing well in
this class. Over the same course and distance this time, he rates a big threat.
FLYING BONUS drops in class and reverts
back to a trip where he went close to winning in his penultimate start. Purton
jumps aboard this time and if overcoming the draw, he should go close.
Race 4 – 08:30 –
1600m – Class 5 – Turf
Selections: 8 – 2 – 1
– 6 – 9
GREAT HARVEST
could be a brave first pick, but he has been lightly raced this season and he
was starting to show signs of a big performance before things didn’t go to plan
at Happy Valley last time. From barrier 6, he will be one of the early leaders
and if allowed to dictate he could be hard to catch. JOY MASTER went close over this course and distance last time out.
He is starting to look competitive off his current mark of 39 but despite the
fact that Joao Moreira takes the mount, it is going to be tough from that wide
draw. HURRICANE HUNTER has shown
good improvement in his last three starts, since dropping into this class. He
should enjoy stepping back up to the mile and if finding some luck in running
from barrier 9, he should be involved at the business end. BLAZING PARTNERS is
dropping steadily in the ratings and the signs of improvement are starting to
show. The step up to the mile will suit and he deserves inclusion in this open
looking event.
Race 5 – 09:00 –
1800m – Class 4 – Turf
Selections: 14 – 8 –
11 – 5 – 1
SHINEALOT
benefitted from the improved draw and fitting of blinkers last time out. He
lands another plum draw for his return to the course and distance where he was
only beaten a neck three runs back. Despite that being in Class 5 company, he
has a nice galloping weight to shoulder here and must be considered a big
runner. GORGEOUS INHERITOR showed
good improvement at Happy Valley last time out, when having just his third
career start. With the blinkers fitted this time, he gets the services of Zac
Purton and with scope for improvement, he should feature. INVALUABLE continues to drop in the ratings and he is starting to
show promising signs of a big run. From gate 6, he looks a big threat. PERFECT TO PLAY reverts to a course
where he hasn’t enjoyed much success and his record in three attempts over this
trip is also questionable. With that said, Joao Moreira is an interesting
jockey inclusion and as a result, he deserves some respect.
Race 6 – 09:35 –
1650m – Class 4 – All Weather
Selections: 2 – 4 – 7
– 6 – 9
Back on the All-Weather for the sixth race and its JADE FORTUNE who gets the nod for first
prize. After two solid efforts from wide draws in both of his last two starts
on this surface, Zac Purton retains the ride from a much-improved draw. This
will be his third start since dropping into this class and he looks set to win
this time. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU
finished right in front of the top selection last time and he finds another
wide barrier to overcome, with Moreira retaining the ride. He is a consistent
performer over this course and distance and must be respected once again. TELECOM ROCKET has been in good consistent form this year and he could be
an interesting contender with this being his first outing on the All-Weather.
With the 3-pound claimer up from a plum draw, he could surprise. SO WE JOY steps up in trip on the back
of a good effort at the fourth time of asking in his latest attempt. He has
plenty of scope to improve and the son of So You Think should relish the extra.
Race 7 – 10:05 –
1200m – Class 3 – Turf
Selections: 2 – 1 – 9
– 8 – 5
STANLEY PARK is a
five-time winner from fifteen career starts and he only showed signs of
returning to the winner’s enclosure last time out, when having his fourth start
in Hong Kong. That was when dropping back to this trip and being forced to go
handy from a very wide draw. The 5-pound claimer jumps aboard from an improved
draw and he should be great each way value. FANTASY will be looking to continue that smart record over this
course and distance as he bids for a hat-trick of wins here. He has received a
punishing 15-pound penalty for those two recent wins but has plenty more to
come and deserves lots of respect. MARVEL
DRAGON
and GLENEALY GENERALS
have both slipped in the ratings and from gates 3 and 2 respectively, have the
credentials to go into contention.
Race 8 – 10:35 –
1000m – Class 2 – Turf
Selections: 7 – 5 – 2
– 4 – 14
MULTIMILLION and HONG KONG WIN both appear to be the leading
contenders here, with the latter having finished in front of the former in
their latest dual over the same track and trip.
MULTIMILLION gets the nod to
reverse the finishing order this time, with the 4-pound favourable turn-around at
the weights. Karis Teetan jumps back aboard, and he has very good record on the
lightly raced son of Tycoon Ruler. If he is allowed to skip clear early on,
he’ll be very tough to catch. HONG KONG
WIN
will be expected to grind out another big run and with Joao Moreira
retaining the ride, he must be included. Both of STRONGER and GENTLE BREEZE
bring threatening recent form to the table and deserve another look for wider
perms.
Race 9 – 11:10 –
1400m – Class 1 – Turf
Selections: 1 – 4 – 5
– 10 – 13
BEAUTY LEGACY
relished the drop back to this trip last time, when making his second
appearance over this course and distance. He steps up in class but still has a
lot more improvement to come and with Joao Moreira retaining the ride, he can
win this. DECRYPT stems from the
same form line in his last start, when finishing right behind the top
selections. He lines up 2-pounds better off with the former and he should give
another good sight if Zac Purton is able to overcome gate 8. CALIFORNIA WHIP has dropped in the ratings and he has a useful galloping
weight for his return to Class 1 level. From gate 6, he should have a nice
place chance. BUDDIES has been very
competitive in Class 2 company and with the 10-pound claimer up for his return
to Class 1 level, he rates a threat from barrier 4.
Race 10 – 11:45 –
1400m – Class 3 – Turf
Selections: 8 – 10 –
4 – 1 – 6
The final race on the card is a return to Class 3 racing,
over the 1400m trip. ALL IN MIND is
still getting going in his career with just 8 runs to his name. He gave a good
sight last time out, when overcoming a wide draw to finish just over three
lengths back. That was over this course and distance in Class 2 company, after
a win here at this level. The 3-year old son of Deep Field lands a plum draw now
and he looks a huge runner over this 1400m trip. FARHH ABOVE has followed up well since winning on his return to
racing earlier this year. He finds conditions to suit and with Moreira
retaining the ride, he should be big opposition to the top one. RIGHT CHOICE looks threatening with
this being his third start since dropping into this class. He finds another
very tricky draw to negate but with three wins from four attempts over this
course and distance, Purton looks like the right man for the job. BEAUTY RUSH hasn’t quite shaped over
the mile in his last two starts, but the drop in trip from a handy draw is
going to suit his handy running style and he could feature at the business
end.
