Race 4
DEEPOUR has
only had the one run, but he put nearly three and a half lengths between
himself and the opposition when winning on debut over six furlongs and could be
almost anything. He hit the front at the 200M mark that day and was geared down
going to the line. From his handy draw four, he looks to be the one to beat
here. PRIVATE
EYE has his hat-trick run after winning his latest start
over 1100M by a length when returning from a 17 week break. He finished well on
that occasion and although drawn wide out at gate twelve, he is likely to be
dropped out of the race in the early stages and then start picking off the
frontrunners over the closing stages of the contest. TASTEBUD is
a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed marked improvement in her
last two outings over six furlongs, winning her maiden race last time out by a
head. She has an even wider gate fourteen to contend with, but she should be
doing her best work late to give the males a good run for their money.
Race 5
Although MY DEMETRA is
recorded as finishing fourth last time out over a mile, she was just over half
a length back from the winner and did finish second in her penultimate run over
today’s trip, just a head behind the victor. She made good late progress that
day and the form of that race has been franked. She jumps from gate eight and
is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. OKSAL made solid
improvement when stepping up to a mile last time out, finishing seventh, just
over a length adrift of the winner. She did not get the clearest of passages in
the home straight that day and did well to finish as close to the winner as she
did. She will have to negotiate draw eleven, but should be right up there when
they hit the line. TRAJECTION was bumped at the start
and was then crowed shortly thereafter, but nevertheless recovered well to win
her last outing by a short-head. She is drawn one inside the latter and will
have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. As such, she
should be involved in the finish.
Race 6
EL BUENA missed out on his hat-trick when
finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, three and a half lengths
behind the winner. It must however be noted that he was bumped shortly after
the start in that outing and did finish off his race well. He has finished
third in a subsequent barrier trial and from gate seven, he looks to be the
value bet on the program. DAME KIRI is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she
has won two of her last three runs and finished second in the other. She was a
short-head winner of her latest outing over six furlongs when returning from a
22 week absence. She has a much kinder draw two and should keep the top choice
honest. PITCHFORK looked
a possible winner close to home before being run out of it very late to end up
in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, just a neck behind the
winner. He was returning from a 15 week rest that day and although drawn the
widest of them all in gate fourteen, he should be included in all bets.
Race 7
ESCAPED followed
up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a slightly disappointing
effort next time out when stepping up to 1300M and was immediately rested for
14 weeks. He returns here after winning his only barrier trial and drops to
what could be a more suitable distance. He faces a wideish draw eight, but he
should be right up there in the firing line. AIM has his first
run since a slightly shorter 13 week absence, but did win his only barrier trial
to prove his well-being. He drops back to sprinting after finishing seventh in
his last start over 1500M, 4.3L back from the winner. He was however hampered in
the straight that day and from his draw one inside the top pick, he could
emerge as his biggest threat. MONTE DITTO ended up third in his
last outing over 1100M, one and a half lengths behind the winner. He will have
to overcome gate eleven, but he has his peak run here after returning from a 17
week break and should not be lightly dismissed.
