Race 1
Three of the nine entrants in this the opening event on today’s program make their debut and as is always the case in these type of races, a keen eye must be paid to the betting market to see if any of these runners are expected to put in good first effort. Of the raced runners, PLUNGE may prove to be the best. He has his first run for his new trainer, but if fully acclimatized in his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here. PRESTISSIMO finished second last time out over 1090M and looks to be the immediate danger to the former. The blinkers get re-fitted for today’s run. MARCHEKY BOY finished fourth on debut over 1090M. He steps up in trip, but he would have come on from that outing and should be involved in the finish today. DATAI is a 4yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has cracked pole position and will get 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

Race 2
UBIRR ROCK won last time out over 1380M despite being friendless in the betting market. From his handy three draw, he could complete the double here. ELUSIVE ELEMENT is drawn one inside the former and did finish second over 1380M in his last outing. He was staying on in the closing stages that day suggesting that the extra distance will be to his liking. HEEBEE RIGHT MATE finished just 2.2L behind the winner last time out over 1640M and should give another good account of himself today. LITTLE DRUMMER BOY was 3.8L behind when finishing third in his last start over 1380M and should be making good late progress in the latter stages of this contest.

Race 3
BIG SHAKA was only run out of it very late last time out over 1212M and the drop in distance will certainly be to his liking. He could be the one to side with here. ENTERPRISE GRAND raced handy in his last outing over six furlongs and was only overhauled late. He is another who will appreciate the drop in trip. MAGIC PANTHER was a little disappointing last time out, but that was in soft going and he should do better with the going on top. BRIS VEGAS has pulled pole position and has his first run for his new trainer. If fully acclimatized in his new environment, he could be considered in this line-up.

Race 4
TEN TAUBADA’S has his hat-trick attempt here and recorded his latest victory over this c&d. From draw two, the trio is very much on the cards. He won’t have everything all his own way though as SPLITZ is also on a hat-trick. He steps up from five furlongs of his last win, but his penultimate victory was posted over six furlongs, so the extra ground should not be an issue. He starts from a slightly wider draw of seven. CLOUDS was 4.7L back last time out over the c&d after returning from a 20-week break. If not needing one more run, he should be considered for all bets. AL’S BRIEFS stayed on in the closing stages of his last outing over the c&d and could pick up a minor stake here.

Race 5
FIRST BID battled all the way down to the line last time out over this c&d when finishing second and if showing the same determination today, he could find himself in the winner’s enclosure. CRISTOVAO was hanging in the closing stages of his last outing over 900M and that could have cost him his victory. The slight drop in distance is sure to be to his liking. MIA SINGA won his maiden race last time out over 1090M and drop in trip here. He takes on stronger, but will get 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice. LEICA FIRECRACKER is a 5yr old mare taking on males. She never went on with her effort in the latter stages of her last outing over six furlongs and is likely to appreciate the drop in distance. Her wide draw is a bit of a concern however.

Race 6
WINDQUEST is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she goes for her hat-trick here after winning her last two outings over 1090M. She steps up in trip, but she finished well in both of those last two victories, so she should be right at home over the extra ground. CRISSCROSS won his penultimate start over the c&d and then was a tad disappointing next time out over 1090M. He could be better suited to this trip and must be viewed as a serious threat to the top selection. MAHRATTA finished well last time out over the c&d when only narrowly beaten. He does have a wideish draw of eight, but he should be doing his best work late. MAGIC PANTHER was disappointing last time out over 1090M after finishing second three times in a row before that last effort. He will be looking to bounce back to that type of form today.
