International Racing: Tuesday 12 May 2020 – Saint-Cloud

A competitive eleven-race programme is scheduled for Saint-Cloud on Tuesday. There are three races for unraced horses and the betting market will need to be closely followed. There is some nice value with regards to a few horses and some good money can be made. Race 8 sees the exciting prospect ENZEL make his return to racing today. He was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over ten furlongs on this course by twenty lengths. He would have been given the time to strengthen up since that run and could be anything. Christophe Soumillon does duty on his return and the pair should take a power of beating.

Race 1 – PRIX KEFALIN
The first race on
the card is for unraced two-year olds over six furlongs. The betting market
will be the best guide with regards to the chances of each runner. KATCHI is an unraced daughter of Olympic Glory from the Louis Baudron stable
with jockey Vincent Cheminaud in the saddle. She has not trialled coming into
this race, but if not too green today, she should get her career off to a
positive start. RIME DOREE is an unraced daughter of Myboycharlie from
the Antoine de Watrigant yard with top jockey Mickael Barzalona doing duty. On
her breeding, she must have some sort of chance if not in need of this outing. CHOCO CHARLY could be the first male past the finishing post. He is an unraced son of
Myboycharlie from the Andrea Marcialis stable. His mother, Terra Nova, was a
two-time winner over six furlongs. Tony Piccone takes the ride this afternoon
and the pair may be right there in the run down to the finishing post.
Race 2 – PRIX DE BUC
This is a weak and
open Claiming race and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is SMART WHIP. His last two starts over 3000m and 2400m were good when finishing third
and second respectively. The son of Dylan Thomas has won once, finished second
once and third once from five attempts over this distance. It is encouraging
that jockey Maxime Guyon takes the ride this afternoon and the pair may find
themselves in the winner’s enclosure. ATTENTIONADVENTURE ran a
decent race when finishing third over twelve furlongs at Compiegne last time.
He has finished second twice from as many starts over today’s distance and with
jockey Cristian Demuro retaining the ride, he should be the one to throw out
the biggest challenge to the top selection. CARTES ran a fair race
when finishing fourth in his comeback run in Class 2 company last time. He ran
a very good race in his penultimate start when finishing second over this
distance on the all-weather surface at Deauville. He gets the services of a
2.5kg claiming apprentice this afternoon and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 3 – PRIX KASHMIR II
This is another race
for unraced horses, this time for three-year olds over a mile. HURRICANE CLOUD is an unraced son of Frankel from the Pascal Bary stable. His
half-brother, Goken was a five-time winner in the United Kingdom. If not too
green today, he should be the one they all have to beat. Trainer Henri-Francois
Devin sends out the unraced son of Dansili, VASCO DA GAMA. He gets the
services of Mickael Barzalona and from his handy draw of two, must be included
in all bets. WESTEROS is an unraced son of Kingsman from the top
stable of Andre Fabre. His mother, Umm Bab is a very well-bred daughter of Sea
The Stars. If not in need of this outing, he should be right there in the run
down to the wire under jockey Vincent Cheminaud. Once again, the betting market
will need to be monitored with regards to the chances of the horses in this race.
Race 4 – PRIX PRALINE
The last of the
races for the unraced horses is for the three year old girls over a mile. JOYOUS SOUNDS is a daughter of Medaglia D’Oro from the Andre Fabre stable with Mickael
Barzalona in the saddle. She is bred and owned by Godolphin. If not in need of
today’s outing, she should get her career off to a winning start. ROSE D’ETOILE is the stable companion of the top selection and she gets the services of
Pierre-Charles Boudot. She is a daughter of Zoffany out of a Galileo mare,
Highest Ever. The grey filly jumps from a good barrier position today and must
be included in all bets.
METAPHORE
is a daughter of Intello
from the Carlos Laffon-Parias stable. She gets the services of Maxime Guyon
this afternoon and should be right there in the run down to the wire. The
betting market will need to be closely followed to get a better idea as to how
the connections feel their horses with fair in this race.

Race 5 – PRIX MONTMARTIN
JAAYIZ was a tad
disappointing in his last start over this distance at Chantilly. He won his
three starts prior to that outing well, all of which were on the all-weather
surface. The switch to the turf is no concern as he has won twice and finished
third twice from twelve outings. The son of Zoffany runs well over today’s distance
having won twice, finishing second once and third once from eleven attempts.
With a bit of luck in running from his wide barrier position, he may be the one
they all have to beat. HERTCHAAN’S last two starts have been good. He finished
three lengths off the winner when placing third over seven furlongs at
Compiegne. The son of Evasive has won once and finished third once in five
attempts over this distance. He will enjoy racing with a bit of cut in the
ground and should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top
selection. LADY WALLI may not have seen out the nine furlongs of
her last start at Longchamp. She runs well on this course having won once and
finishing third once from three outings. She does have a wide draw to contend
with this afternoon, but she gets the services of Mickael Barzalona who will
give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 6 – PRIX TEDDY
This is a
competitive contest as a few horses have a decent chance of winning. PRINCE HAMLET, with jockey Tony Piccone, is the tentative first selection. He has
finished second in his last two starts over this course and distance under
today’s pilot. If continuing his good run of form, he has a decent chance of
notching up his fourth career victory. EL CALIENTE took on
slightly stronger in his last start over this distance at Chantilly on the
all-weather surface. He won his two starts prior to that outing well and if
producing that form this afternoon, he should be the one to throw out the
biggest challenge to the top choice. He jumps from a handy barrier position on
his course debut. KYLHEAD won his last start well over 1500m at
Chantilly. He should be one of the fitter horses coming into this race as his
last outing was 61 days ago. He gets the services of Pierre-Charles Boudot
today and merits healthy respect.
MISTER CHARLIE is the value bet on today’s programme. His
last three starts over 1500m have been good, the latest of which was in this
class. He should be one of the fittest horses coming into this race and it is
encouraging that jockey Mickael Barzalona retains the ride. From his handy
draw, he may be the one to side with here. LE BEQUET ran a fair race
in his last start over 1900m at Bordeaux. He will enjoy the drop back to the
mile today as he has won once and finished third three times from seven starts
over the trip. It must be noted that he finished third in his only start on
this course. Jockey Antoine Werle who has ridden him in his last two starts,
keeps the ride and the pair should be right there in the run down to the wire. TRUCO is a lightly raced son of Sepoy. He followed up his maiden win with a
decent third place finish over 1900m at Chantilly on the all-weather surface.
He drops back to the mile after five months off the track and if not in need of
this outing, he should have a decent chance of running into the money.
Race 8 – PRIX TOURBILLON
ENZEL is the best bet on this afternoon’s card. The
son of Intello caught the eye when winning on debut by twenty lengths over ten
furlongs on this course in heavy going. He is returning from a five month break
today, during which time he would have strengthened up. He could be anything
and with Christophe Soumillon in the saddle, he should keep his unbeaten record
intact. DAWN INTELLO was impressive when winning on debut over
1900m at Deauville on the all-weather surface. He found plenty of betting
support that day, which indicates that he had been showing some good work back
at home. In-form Maxime Guyon takes the ride this afternoon and the pair merit
obvious inclusion. PORT GUILLAUME
is a filly taking on the males. She
was an impressive winner of both her starts to date. The daughter of Le Harve
does take a rise in class this afternoon, but she looks to have ability and may
be up to the task at hand. Regular pilot Cristian Demuro retains the ride.
Race 9 – PRIX DURBAN
IRSKA was an impressive winner on debut over 1900m
at Chantilly on the all-weather surface. The daughter of Hunter’s Light would
have come on with the run under her belt and there may be more to come. She
does take on stronger opposition today, but she could be anything. If taking to
the turf surface, she may be the one they all have to beat. ANOBAR is still a maiden after nine starts, but she has not finished too far
off the winner in recent outings. She has a good record on this course having
finished second twice and third twice from five outings. She should come into
the race at peak fitness and with Tony Piccone retaining the ride, she should
be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection. GEMCUTTER has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. The manner in
which she finished off her last start suggests that she will enjoy the rise in
distance today. Regular pilot Mickael Barzalona retains the ride and the pair
merit healthy respect.
Race 10 – PRIX DE PUTEAUX
BANOUSH got back to winning ways in his last start
over 1900m at Chantilly on the all-weather surface. The son of Mizzen Mast has
finished second once from two starts over this distance. The return to the turf
should not pose a concern as he has placed on the surface in the past. In-form
Maxime Guyon takes the ride this afternoon and from pole position, he may be
the one to side with here. CALVIN
has finished second in his last two
starts over a mile. He will enjoy the rise to ten furlongs as he has won once,
finished second twice and third once from eight attempts over this distance. He
does have a wide draw to contend with today, but he gets the services of
Mickael Barzalona and he will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
BLUE BLUE EYES is much better than his last start suggests.
He has an impressive record of eight wins and a third-place finish from twelve
starts on the turf. He gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice today
and on best form shown, should be right there in the run down to the finishing
post.
Race 11 – PRIX DE LESCAR
STELVIO just got up to win his last start over 2100m
on this course. He loves racing on this track having won twice and finishing
second once from as many starts. Jockey Tony Piccone knows the son of Style
Vendome well and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure this
afternoon. FRY is a filly taking on the males. She was
given a peach of a ride to get up and win her maiden race over nine furlongs
last time. The daughter of Zoffany does take on stronger this afternoon, but
she is lightly raced and looks progressive. It is encouraging that Mickael
Barzalona does duty this afternoon and the combination merit healthy respect. THE MANAGER has some decent recent form to his credit. He has won once and finished
second once from four attempts over today’s distance. The son of Charm Spirit
does have a wide draw to contend with, but he gets the services of the
experienced Olivier Peslier who should give him all the necessary assistance
from the saddle.
