International Racing: Vichy – Wednesday 27 May 2020

International Racing: Angers – Saturday 23rd May 2020

A competitive looking ten-race programme is scheduled for Vichy on Wednesday. The best bet on the card is OSSUN SET in Race 1. She has finished runner-up in both her starts to date. She does not meet the strongest opposition today and should take a power of beating.

This is a weak
claiming contest for three-year old fillies and one horse stands out on form. OSSUN SET has finished second in both her starts to date, the latest of which was
over this distance at Compiegne. She returns from a two-month break this
afternoon, during which time she would have strengthened up. She does not meet
the strongest opposition here and should shed her maiden tag. JEUX DE PRESTIGE produced a fair debut effort over a mile at Chantilly on the all-weather
surface. On breeding, she should enjoy the step up to the ten-furlong trip. She
would have gained from the experience and with the natural progression that is
expected, she should be one of the leading contenders for the placings. ALYSHKA showed good improvement to finish fifth in her last start over 1900m at
Chantilly on the all-weather surface. She tries the turf for the first time and
if suited to the surface, she may have more to come. It is encouraging that
jockey Vincent Cheminaud retains the ride aboard the daughter of Anodin.
Race 2 – PRIX DE MONTLOGNON
THE MANAGER was in need of his last start over this
distance at Saint Cloud last time. He has won once and finished second once
from five attempts over this trip. Pierre-Charles Boudot who has finished
second aboard the son of Charm Spirit twice in the past, steps back into the saddle
today. He should strip a much fitter horse here and on best form shown, looks to
be the one they all must beat. AKYO
was also in need of his last start
when finishing behind the top selection. He produced two good runs prior to
that outing under today’s 4kg claiming apprentice. He has won twice, finished
second three times and third once from fourteen starts on the turf. He would
have come on from his last outing and may be the one to throw out the biggest
challenge to the top choice.
KONGASET
is a maiden taking on
winners, but his last start over 2100m at Saint Cloud was good. He has finished
second once and third twice from four attempts over this distance. Mickael
Barzalona does duty this afternoon and the combination cannot be ignored in
this field.
Race 3 – PRIX D’ORRY
KILFRUSH MEMORIES is the value bet on today’s card. He produced
a very good comeback run when finishing second over six furlongs at Chantilly
last time. The drop to the minimum trip should not pose an issue as he has
finished third twice from three attempts over the distance. He should strip a
much fitter horse today and with Stephane Pasquier retaining the ride, he looks
to be the one to side with here.
SOHO STARLIGHT
has not finished too
far behind the winner in recent outings. All five of his career victories have
come on the turf surface. Vincent Cheminaud retains the ride, and should the
top selection fluff his lines, the son of Pivotal may be the one to pick up the
pieces. TUDO BEM showed good signs of a form return when
coming off a much needed two-month break last time. He has finished second
twice and third once from four attempts over this distance. If confirming his recent
improvement, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.
Race 4 – PRIX DE BRICHEBAY
WILD MAJESTY is an unraced son of Kodiac from the
Henri-Francois Devin stable. He cost his owners GNS 400,000. He does not need to be a superstar to win
in this type of field and if not too green, has a good chance of starting his
career off with a victory. The betting market will be the best guide with
regards to his chances. BENTLEY MOOD finished runner-up in his last
start over this course and distance. He should strip a much fitter horse this
afternoon and may have more to come. Cristian Demuro knows him well and the
pair merit obvious inclusion. EXCALIBER showed good signs of a form
return when finishing third over seven furlongs at Strasbourg last time. He
drops to the minimum trip for the first time and if not finding this distance
too short, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.

This is a weak Maiden contest for the girls and caution is advised. The
tentative first selection is DANDY
GROOVE
who is an unraced daughter
of No Nay Never from the Mauricio Delcher-Sanchez stable with Tony Piccone in
the saddle. She cost her owners EUR € 300,000. If not too green this afternoon, she
may get her career off to a winning start. A close eye will need to be kept on
the betting market with regards to her chances. INCENDIERE has produced
some decent form to date. She returns from a six-month break this afternoon,
during which time she would have strengthened up. She finished third in her
only start on this course. If fit and well, she should have a decent chance in
this field. CALYPSO ROSE has not finished too far off the winner in her
last four starts. She makes her course debut this afternoon and if suited to
the track, she should be right there in the fight out to the finish.
This is a weak Class
3 Handicap over the minimum distance and caution is advised. The narrow first
selection is ON THE EDGE from the Andrea Marcialis stable with in-form
Pierre-Charles Boudot in the saddle. She produced a very good comeback run when
finishing second over six furlongs at Chantilly. She drops to this distance for
the first time and if not finding it on the sharp side, she should have a good
chance of going one better today. LA
MIRADA
ran a very good race when
finishing 0.2 lengths behind the top selection last time. She too drops to the
1000m for the first time. The daughter of Dobby Road should strip much fitter
this afternoon and must be included in all bets. END OF STORY got back to
winning ways in her last start over 1100m. Five of her nine career victories to
date have come on the turf surface. She has a good chance of running into the
money once again today.
SHAMS BRAZILERO’S last three runs have been very good. He won
his previous two outings before finishing second, 0.2 lengths behind the winner
last time. He steps back up to Class 2 company this afternoon, but he is in
good form and should be up to the task at hand. Maxime Guyon takes the ride and
the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. CHEF OUI CHEF got back to winning ways in his last start over six furlongs at
Chantilly. He runs well over this distance having won once, finishing second
twice and third three times from fourteen attempts. His form on this course is
good with a record of one win, one second and one third-place finish from four
starts. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up
the pieces. GLICOURT needed his last start over six furlongs at
Chantilly. He produced two very good runs prior to that outing. He gets the
services of a 3kg claiming apprentice this afternoon which should help his
cause. He should strip a much fitter horse and must be included in all bets.
NEHOU made the natural improvement when finishing
fourth, two lengths behind the winner over a mile at Fontainebleau last time.
He returns from a two-month break this afternoon, during which time he would
have strengthened up. He gets the services of regular pilot Stephane Pasquier
and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure today. KATAFONIC produced a fair debut effort when finishing 5.6 lengths behind the winner
over 1500m at Deauville on the all-weather surface. He would have gained from
the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be
the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection. VASCO DA GAMA produced a promising debut effort when finishing sixth over a mile at
Saint Cloud. The son of Dansili would have come on from the run and with
Mickael Barzalona sticking with the ride, he should make the natural
progression and run into the money.

Race 9 – PRIX DE LA PRAIRIE
This is a small
Maiden Plate for the Fillies over a mile. PRINCESSE ILIA produced an
eye-catching debut effort when finishing second over this distance at Chantilly
on the all-weather surface. She returns from a three-month break today, during
which time she would have got a lot stronger. Eddy Hardouin who was aboard the
daughter of Charm Spirit on debut, retains the ride and the combination should
go one better today. ANOBAR is still a maiden after ten starts, but she has
not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has finished second
four times and third twice from as many attempts over this distance. The
daughter of Anodin makes her course debut today and if suited to the track, she
should be right there in the run down to the wire. GRATIANE took on Group 3
company in her last start and did not shape. She produced some decent form
prior to that and from barrier position two, she should have a say in the
outcome of this contest.
Race 10 – PRIX DE LUZARCHES
5 3 4
BERGAMASQUE is a filly taking on the males and she was
an impressive maiden winner at the second time of asking over twelve furlongs
at Longchamp. She returns from a lengthy eleven-month break, during which time
she would have strengthened up. Pierre-Charles Boudot retains the ride this
afternoon and if fit and well, she should be the one they all have to beat. KING PLATIN’S last three runs before the three-month break were decent. He has won
three times, finished second three times and third twice from twenty efforts
over this distance. Stephane Pasquier knows him well and the pair should be
involved in the fight to the finish once again. KINGSTAR took on Listed
company in his last start over a mile at Saint Cloud. He drops back in class
this afternoon and if repeating his penultimate run where he won over twelve
furlongs, he should have a good money chance. Maxime Guyon retains the ride
this afternoon which is encouraging.
