RACE 1
GREAT SMART
followed up his recent victory with a solid effort last time out on the
all-weather track when only beaten a couple of lengths by Double Take. He jumps
from a mid-field barrier and if repeating that type of effort then he may be
difficult to peg back in the closing stages of this opening contest. BUNDLE OF ENERGY has finished runner-up
in his last two outings and looks the obvious threat to the top selection. HAY RUN is drawn wide but if he can get
across without using up too much energy then he should be able to earn a cheque
in this type of field.

RACE 2
JIMSON THE DRAGON was
no match for the winner last time out at Sha Tin but he only has to shoulder
50.5kgs in this contest courtesy of the apprentice claim and he looks
fairly-handicapped in this contest. LA
BOMBA
and BANDY were next best
in that event and they look like they have the form to throw out the biggest
challenge to the top selection. FLYING
MONKEY
was only beaten by a length last time out on this track but looks
held on his penultimate run when 6.25 lengths behind United We Stand.

RACE 3
SELL MY SOLE is
drawn best of all and he was only pipped by a nose on this track by Chikorita
last time out. He showed plenty of speed on that occasion and he looks set to
earn his first career win. HAPPY TANGO
got trapped wide in his last outing but still finished positively to be beaten
3.5 lengths at the wire. If he can get a handy position on the pace then he
should be right there at the business end of affairs. HONEST WAY shoulders top weight in this contest but he was right
behind the second selection in his penultimate run and must have claims in this
Class 4 Handicap.
RACE 4
UNIVERSAL GO GO
jumps from an inside barrier position and he was only pipped by a nose on this
track last time out. He placed in his penultimate run behind Murray’s Partners
who has come out to win again since. PARTY
TOGETHER
has placed in his last two starts and with Purton in the saddle,
he should be able to pose a serious threat to the top selection. BIG BANG BONG was right behind the
top selection last time out and meets him 1.5kgs better off at the weights this
afternoon. That may be enough to reverse the form with his recent conqueror.
RACE 5
JAZZ STEED is
drawn wide but he has been impressively lately over the minimum trip and should
have the speed to overcome his outside barrier position. If he can handle the
extra furlong on offer this afternoon then he can make it back-to-back triumphs
in this contest. KINDA COOL was
beaten three lengths by Yee Cheong Pegasus last time out. He is still lightly
raced and has plenty of scope to improve in a field of this nature. HAPPY GOOD GUYS has won twice this
season and will benefit from the 4.5kgs apprentice allowance.
RACE 6
CALIFORNIA RAD
should get across from his wide draw steadily and may adopt for similar tactics
he used in his latest triumph when tracking the speed and doing his best work
up the straight. He has struck up a remarkable relationship with Karis Teetan
and they will be tough to peg back in the closing stages of this contest. FLYING BONUS is well drawn, has a 3kgs
claiming apprentice and he was only edged out late at Sha Tin last time out
when beaten by half a length. LORIZ
followed up his last victory well finishing third subsequently in both outings
and he must be considered for the places again.
RACE 7
The South African-bred BEAR
AGAIN
returns from the paddock this afternoon. He only had one start last
season when a winner on this track and looks to have plenty more to come. He
jumps from an inside barrier and if returning fit then he may be the surprise
package in this contest. SHAMPORT
has finished runner-up in his last two starts on this track and looks the
obvious threat on paper. JOYFUL HEART
will need some luck in running to get across from his wide draw as there is
plenty pace in the race but if he can do so, then he can run into the places.
RACE 8
MAGNIFICENT was
only beaten by half a length last time out by STAR SHINE and he meets his rival 1kg better off at the weights
this afternoon. That may be enough to turn the tables with his recent conqueror
and he should take a power of beating in this contest.  BUTTERFIELD
overcame his wide barrier position to set the pace last time to only get
caught in the dying stages and he will benefit from the 4.5kgs apprentice
allowance in this contest.
RACE 9
VICTORIAM and HIGHLAND FORTUNE both go for a
hat-trick of wins in the lucky last race and the pair are set to fight out the
finish. Both horses are six furlong specialists and they look very difficult to
oppose on paper. WINNING METHOD was
only just pipped by the top selection last time out and he is now 1kgs better
off at the weights, which may be enough to reverse the form with his recent
conqueror. SHINING ACE is a
three-time c & d winner and he has the class to win this despite giving
weight to the rest of the field.
