Race 3: CAPTAIN COURTEOUS(3)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

CAPTAIN COURTEOUS
had some nervy moments but showed his class when notching up his fourth consecutive victory three weeks ago. He has been defeated just once from four c & d efforts and can defy the resultant three-pound penalty. The Captain Al gelding should handle the rise in class.

Race 4: BELA-BELA(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

BELA-BEL
A has her belated seasonal debut where she renews her rivalry with the equally brilliant SILVER MOUNTAIN who also had her last effort on July Day in KZN. The grey filly was much more convincing during the Durban spell where she thrashed the latter in the Fillies Guineas. She had a most creditable effort in the July and looks all set for an exciting summer back home. She won’t be fully tuned-up today but still has the class to take all the beating.

BELA-BELA(2)

Race 8: GOODTIME GAL(3)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Mike ROBINSON

The ultra-consistent and classy filly GOODTIME GAL is her yard’s only entrant on the card and she can defy the odds today. The four-year-old bay has continued her excellent run of form this campaign and although she is 2kgs out at the weights with the best-rated NIGHTINGALE, she gets the nod from pole position.

Race 10: CHOIR OF ANGELS(2)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Eric SANDS

There are many form contenders in this final event where yet another tight affair is expected and this formline could be worth following. CHOIR OF ANGELS is improving smartly with each outing and he did things the hard way from a wide draw when outrun late into 2nd by a form entrant over this trip, three weeks ago. The Pathfork gelding finished more than three lengths clear of the 3rd placed finisher and he has lots of scope for further progress. His good draw is a major aid.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 2: CARDINAL CALL(7)

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

CARDINAL CALL
prefers an extra furlong to be at his level-best but the likely suicidal pace over today’s five furlongs is a huge advantage for the bay gelding who is better than his fair last two runs. He goes well for in-form jockey Cheyne and the pair teamed up with relative success when finish- ing runner-up over this trip at Durbanville despite a poor draw in early September.
