Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (1)
Jockey: A Marcus – Trainer: H Crawford/M Rix

The combination of Harold Crawford and Michelle Rix hold a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first two past the post. RHYTHM OF THE RAIN has finished second in all three of her outings to date. She showed good speed over 1250m at Durbanville last time, but was outrun late by Dollar A Dime. The daughter of Soft Falling Rain should enjoy the drop back to 1000m and in this type of field, she can shed her maiden tag.

Race 3: LYRICS TO LOVE (8)
Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: P Kruger

LYRICS TO LOVE ran a good race on debut over this distance at Durbanville. He was slow into stride, finished his race off nicely but was cramped just before the finishing post. The son of Quasillo would have gained from the experience and with a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking.

Lyrics To Love

Race 5: SILVANO’S DASHER (2)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: B Crawford

SILVANO’S DASHER was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over 1250m at Durbanville. He raced from just off the pace, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Silvano would have gained from the experience and could be anything. He jumps from pole position and should remain unbeaten.

Top Bet For Today

Race 6: GIMMIE A STAR (4)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: D Kannemeyer

GIMMIE A STAR made the expected natural improvement to win his maiden over 1600m at Durbanville. He moved up with a ton in hand that day and fought hard to keep all challengers at bay. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise to 1800m. He does take on stronger, but looks to have ability and should be up to the task at hand.

Value Bet For Today

Race 4: OVATION (6)
Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: C Bass-Robinson

OVATION finished 0.75 lengths behind FINAL MOVE last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done him the world of good. The son of Oratorio has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. He makes his Handicap debut and can return to winning ways.
