Doncaster Best Bets

Race 6: No8 – HYDROSS ( Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

Stoute sent out Highest Ground to overturn a John Gosden hotpot at Haydock earlier in the week and he can do it again here, with Frankel colt HYROSS taken to beat Magical Morning. The selection has shown he can go through the gears at home and is high in the pecking order at Freemason Lodge. He’s very well regarded and can take advantage of the 7lb extra his rival has to carry for his wide-margin success at Yarmouth.

Race 8: No7 – STORTING
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

On more than one occasion last year STORTING looked like winning only to get run out of it. He was a beaten favourite on four occasions but comes back in what can prove a new chapter to his career, as long as the ground doesn’t get too firm. Channon has booked the red hot Tom Marquand for the ride, and that jockey enjoyed a first sit on his mount at West Ilsley on Tuesday.

Race 9: No9 – OUR CHARLIE BROWN
Trainer: Adrian Keatley – Jockey: Harry Russell

There’s no hiding place for horses like OUR CHARLIE BROWN but the six-year-old has a good chance of gaining a first success under the care of his new trainer. He ran well to make the frame at Beverley earlier in the week and could have a fitness edge over some of his rivals.

Race 2: No1 – ADAAY DREAM
Trainer: Tom Dascombe – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

ADAAY DREAM switches to turf following a pleasing debut success at Newcastle for which he picked up a 5lb penalty. At this stage of the season and with that experience under his belt he’ll be hard to stop for a trainer that’s adept at getting them ready.

Race 5: No9 – EVENING SUN (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Jason Watson

EVENING SUN is reported to have progressed into a taking individual through the close season and lockdown, and can make an immediate impression on this return. He chased home the well regarded King Leonidas over this course and distance on his second and final outing as a juvenile and can take full advantage of the 16lb he receives from Ejtilaab.

Race 7: No1 – BODYLINE
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

As long as this doesn’t come too soon, BODYLINE has a cracking chance of making it a first success of 2020 in a race that’s cut up in his favour. He ran a blinder to finish just out of the money in sixth in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot and can outstay his foes for a stable that’s just starting to run into form.

Race 3: No9 – LOCKET
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

LOCKET made a pleasing start to her career when third at Redcar, doing her best work at the finish after proving easy to back. She is going to come on a bundle for that and can open her account on the way to better things.

Race 6: No1 – ADDITIONAL (Nap)
Trainer: Martyn Meade – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

It’s going to take something special to prevent ADDITIONAL opening his account. The half-brother to Group 1 winner Acclaim threw away what looked certain victory when drifting left inside the final furlong at Yarmouth and forfeiting more ground than the threequarters of a length he was beaten by Mister Snowdon. The form is already looking strong, with the winner having run in the Jersey Stakes and the second making the frame in the Britannia Handicap.
