RACE 1
WON BALL has made up some good ground in recent outings and meets the right field today. He took a bump at the start on that occasion and with better luck in running he could open up proceedings. SIGHT HERO was a bit one paced last time out but it is encouraging that Schofield has kept faith in the ride. He is still lightly raced and has plenty room for improvement. DAZZLING FEELING made minor progress last time out and in this moderate field, can run into the money.
RACE 2
GLORIOUS DRAGON followed up his recent win with a fair effort over this distance. He comes in at the top of the weights but gets a slight relief thanks to his 1kg claiming apprentice. BUTTERFIELD won his last start impressively. He takes on stronger but should be up to the task at hand. HELENE LEADINGSTAR is drawn best of all. He won’t be wanting to race from a handy position and should have plenty in the tank when turning for home.
RACE 3
WAIKUKU hit the front at the 200m mark last time out and the manner in which he finished off the race was encouraging. Moreira knows him well and the pair are leading contenders in this Grade 2 event. SOUTHERN LEGEND brings ultra-consistent form into this race. He has found one better in his last three outings under Teetan and will be looking to make amends. KA YING STAR showed guts to get over the line last time out. He is well drawn and it would be no surprise to see him make it quick back-to-back wins.
RACE 4
BEAUTY CHEERS is still relatively unexposed. He performed much better in his second outing when finished steadily. He should strip a much fitter horse and further natural improvement is expected. LUCKY QUALITY has produced two good last efforts on this course. He will benefit from a claiming apprentice and can pose a threat to the top selection. HONEST WAY is much better than his poor last run when unbalanced at the 250m mark. His prior form is attractive and can bounce back to his best.
RACE 5
DECISIVE TWELVE was just beaten in his last start. He set the pace that day and was caught in the shadow of the post. Teetan jumps aboard and from his inside barrier position, definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. KILLER BEE won impressively on debut. The manner in which he drew off at the finish suggests there is plenty more to come from this individual. REGENCY BO BO was clear second best last time out. He jumps from pole position, is likely to settle off the pace and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the wire.
RACE 6
SUPER WINNER is drawn best of all and he won with plenty in hand last time out. He went from gun to tape on that occasion and another big run is expected. GRACYLOVE was no match for the winner last time but at least showed eagerness to race. If confirming that effort, he can pose a threat to the top selection. SUPER RED DRAGON is an honest sort. He ran a decent fourth last time and should be staying on strongly where it matters most.
RACE 7
VUKAN followed up his first career win well despite overracing. He looks to have the most scope for improvement amongst this bunch and if settling in the race, will be tough to reel in. DAILY BEAUTY dictated terms well last time but then cost himself by shifting in the latter stages. If overcoming his wide draw, he may be allowed a soft lead in-front. SEIZE THE SPIRIT is another one that is drawn wide but the manner in which he played with his opposition last time suggests there is another win in the tank.
RACE 8
HURRY HURRY GAIN won going away in fine fashion at just the second time of asking. He is a sort that is loaded with ability and should find himself in Class 2 very soon. STORM WARNINGS was only outrun in the latter stages of his last start. He looked a winner on that occasion and will be hoping to set the record straight. SKY SHOW has finished well in his last three starts under Moreira. His last win came in April of last year which is a slight concern but he can finish in the money.
RACE 9
WELLINGTON is the best bet on the card. He won with a ton in hand last time out. He was held up for a run between the 400-350m mark and once he got a clear passage, finished his race off powerfully. Badel retains the ride and the pair can reel off the hat-trick of wins. COMPUTER PATCH set a decent pace last time and was only caught in the latter stages. If overcoming his wide draw, he may be difficult to peg back. STRONGER rises in class but was narrowly beaten last time under Ho. If putting his best foot forward, he can run into the money.
RACE 10
ALL FOR SOUTH cut throats up front last time in a competitive contest. He ran out of puff in the final furlong and if given a better ride, can find himself in the winner’s box of the lucky last. PERFECT TO GREAT’S last two starts have been decent. He shifted at the 200m mark last time and dashed strongly to the wire. PRIVATE ROCKET is inconsistent but has shown a preference for racing at Sha Tin and can finish in the money.
