Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Sunday’s racing taking place Ayr and Wolverhampton.
Ayr Best Bets
Race 1: THE FERRY MASTER (7)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson
Jockey: Ryan Mania
THE FERRY MASTER really takes the eye in this maiden hurdle after a pleasing comeback to the fray. He looked like winning approaching the final flight of an identical race at Hexham only to be grabbed on the run-in. That should have blown away the cobwebs and made him cherry ripe to return to winning ways.
Race 2: CHARLIE SNOW ANGEL (1) (Each Way)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson
Jockey: Ryan Mania
CHARLIE SNOW ANGEL has done us a favour at this course where he is hard to beat, and even though higher in the weights the 11yo has a good chance of completing a hat-trick. He does himself a favour by never winning by far, thereby restricting what action the assessor can take against him.
Race 5: ALOOMOMO (1)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson
Jockey: Ryan Mania
The Thomson team have a genuine player here in ALOOMOMO who has the size and substance to carry in excess of 12 stone in this handicap chase. He had plenty of use made of him when coming home clear over this trip at Kelso and I’m expecting a similarly bold tactic to be employed.
Wolverhampton Best Bets
Race 5: PINK FLAMINGO (2)
Trainer: Mike Atwater
Jockey: Robert Havlin
Consistency is the hallmark of PINK FLAMINGO who is having her first outing since the autumn. On that occasion, she lost out in a photo to Shamshon after looking all over the winner. She now drops a peg down the class ladder and is fresh and fancied for an earning run.
Race 6: BLACKCURRENT (3)
Trainer: Alan Brown
Jockey: Donal Nolan
Breaking from the same stall (7) as Pink Flamingo, BLACKCURRENT is getting ready for an overdue delivery and today could well be the day. Third to Hot Hot Hot over course and distance earlier in the month, the selection is at the lowest point of the handicap band, and has to go well.
