PULLER MOVES TO THE FRONT IN STYLE
Hollywoodbets sponsored trainer Garth Puller struck the front in the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge log after saddling a double at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Pullers first win came in race 5 on Rasputin’s Remedy when Luke Ferraris came from off the pace to mow them down. Krishnies Jet then went onto to win the next race in the same fashion for Puller, when again Ferraris sat back and asked for a response in the final furlong.
Those two wins and multiple places from his 13 runners saw Puller accumulate 106 points and move from 5 points behind Paul Lafferty in second at the start of the day to 52 points ahead of him by the close. Lafferty managed 47 points from his six runners as he managed a few places.
In the Jockey’s log Luke Ferraris was the jockey of the day as he managed to accumulate a massive 60 points and move into 23rd place on the log.
At the top of the log it was business as usual for the top two as they both rode a double on the card.
The first strike on the day went to Winning Form sponsored Kennedy as he won on Promise in race 3 for trainer Paul Peter. Anton Marcus then replied in the next race as he won with On The Double for trainer Johan Janse van Vuuren.
Kennedy then completed his double for the Peter stable on the proverbial penalty kick of the afternoon in the form of Rebel’s Champ in the seventh and Marcus completed his double in the last race on Basetsana for trainer Mike Miller.
Marcus finished the day with 763.5 points and Kennedy on 754.5.
The horses log remains the same with Lafferty’s charge Bint El Malak and Explosive Beauty still in the top two places with just a month to go.
The next leg of the Hollywoodbets Sizzling Summer Challenge sees racing head back to Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday 29th January, where an eight race programme is carded.
