TOP BET
Race 2: WONDEROUS CLIMBER (8)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY
WONDEROUS CLIMBER was understandably green but finished strongly for a close 2nd to subsequent winner Whorly Whorly over seven furlongs on debut in early March. The well-related Dynasty colt went off as favourite that day, indicating that he is highly regarded and should make heaps of improvement here. The extra furlong will be right up his alley and he should go close on his track debut.
Race 6: SIMPLY ROYAL (6)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Sean TARRY
SIMPLY ROYAL must be forgiven her disappointing last outing after she found plenty of traffic issues. She is a really class daughter of Silvano who displayed her talent with an emphatic debut victory from a poor draw on this tight circuit prior to that. Her good barrier is a major plus today and the Tarry inmate should make amends.
Race 7: GOODYTWOSHOES (9)
Jockey:  Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Sean TARRY
GOODYTWOSHOES reached a highly competitive merit rating and it told when she produced an eye-catching last display in yielding conditions on the standside course. She was slow into stride but challenged strongly before running a creditable 4th against male rivals. It was rather surprising that the bay filly escaped without a penalty and she won her only start on this track.
Race 9: QUATTRO (8)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant MAROUN
There are some very speedy types in this low-key affair and the likely suicidal pace will suit the top selection QUATTRO who has a smart finishing burst. The Judpot gelding display that when he beat dual subsequent winner Dragoon over this c & d at a similar level last time out. The victory earned him a four pound penalty but he certainly has more to offer and should stake another serious claim.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 5: WAZEER (3)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE Trainer: Ernie ANDERSON
WAZEER was perhaps unsuited to the soft conditions when she folded badly late in her disappointing last effort. She had her career best run on good ground prior to that and the blinkers did seem to aid her last time out. The daughter of Silvano meets a very ordinary field here and she could have big improvement still to come. This shorter run-in will suit her short but effective burst of speed.
