Race 2: PERPETUAL SILENC(12)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Woodruff G V
PERPETUAL SILENCE attracted good betting support on his debut over this trip at the Vaal, two weeks ago. He was understandably green that day but finished well for a decent 4th, beaten just over two lengths at the line. Admittedly, that was an ordinary field and the runner-up was well beaten into 3rd next time out but this expensive son of Trippi should make that experience count. He is drawn in midfield on his track debut and there could be heaps of improvement to come.
Race 4: SAMURAI BLADE(1)
Jockey: Zackey C – Trainer: Zaki D
SAMURAI BLADE made the expected improvement over a mile second time out but the manner in which he quickened was super-impressive. The Dominic Zaki inmate raced up with the speed at the Vaal and he cruised clear to record a comfortable maiden victory. Things will be much trickier on his handicap debut today but the Australian import has obvious ability and he can only get better. He should easily handle the extra furlong and his good draw is a major plus on his track debut. He could develop into a really smart sort. Interestingly, he is his yard’s sole representative on this card.
Race 5: SHAWL(6)
Jockey: Zechner K – Trainer: Ferraris O A
SHAWL has come well in recent outings and she is her stable’s only runner on today’s card. The four year old filly is in good form and she likes this c & d. She ran on well for 2nd in her last c & d effort and the 3rd placed finisher, her stablemate Marmalady has boosted that form impressively since. This daughter of Seventh Rock finished almost two lengths ahead of SISTERS OF MERCY in that event and despite being 2kgs worse off at the weights, she can still confirm the form with the latter.
