Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 4: MADAM SECRETARY(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

MADAM SECRETARY
quickly bounced back to form albeit when she was 2nd best behind an easy victress over this track & trip in soft conditions a fortnight ago. She has certainly hinted that sprinting could be her forte’ early on in her career and she should be highly competitive in today’s field. Top jockey Gavin Lerena retains the ride.

Race 6: CIDADA(6)
Jockey: Calvin NGCOBO – Trainer: Alec LAIRD

Just seven fillies and mares head to post for this competitive nine furlong handicap but there could still be a decent gallop which should ensure a true result. CIDADA is an improving stayer with some useful form and she seems ahead of the handicapper. The four-year-old filly is unbeaten from two runs on this galloping circuit. She was badly interfered with but still recovered to run on in a feature on the tight inside track four weeks ago. Admittedly, the daughter of Galileo may prefer an extra furlong to be at her best but she is well handicapped and is one worth following.

Race 7: KINGS ARCHER(6)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW

The day’s topliner features another highly competitive handicap with just eight entrants. KINGS ARCHER ran way above his rating when he pushed New Predator (close 2nd in subsequent Grade 2 event) hard in yielding going at conditions level over this c & d, five weeks ago. He was in turn 1.40 lengths ahead of the 3rd placed entrant FOREST FOX (4th over six furlongs on 09/03) whom he now meets on 0.5kg worse terms. However, the top selection was returning from a 10 week absence so he should strip fitter and in-form ‘Striker’ retains the ride. The five-year old entire’ is his stable’s only entrant on the card.

Race 9: WESTERN WARRIOR(2)
Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Clinton BINDA

WESTERN WARRIOR
greatly benefitted from being equipped with blinkers as he bounced right back to form with a gutsy last effort in a competitive but small field. The Querari gelding stayed on doggedly for a solid 3rd and will undoubtedly prefer today’s extra furlong. It is slightly concerning that the headgear has been removed but the Clinton Binda inmate may have found his confidence again and he can still pull this off.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: QUEENIE(6)

Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS – Trainer: Tony NASSIF

QUEENIE
showed much promise as a juvenile last campaign but seemed to suffer a major setback and she hasn’t recovered since. Her comeback form (three runs) has been shocking but the daughter of Rebel King tries blinkers for the first time and she has plummeted in the merit ratings. She is her stable’s only runner on this card and could make big improvement if the headgear has the desired effect.
