UK Racing Tips – Monday 16 March 2020

Jockeys ride horses

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing at Hereford and Kelso.

Hereford Best Bets
Race 1: IMPERIAL ICON (3)
Trainer: Kim Bailey
Jockey: David Bass
These colours were successful at the Cheltenham Festival last week, and while IMPERIAL ICON will never be another Imperial Aura he has def8nite potential, as shown when finishing second on his debut over jumps at Huntingdon. He was beaten a long way by winner Petrastar but it still marks him as the one to beat.
Race 6: THE EDGAR WALLACE (5)
Trainer: Kim Bailey
Jockey: Davis Bass
IT’S hard to see past THE EDGAR WALLACE who met a smart rival when beaten by Adrimel at Doncaster last month. The selection battled back when headed to finish just a length and a quarter adrift of his rival and 9n that evidence should have too many guns for point winner Ocean Drifter.
Kelso Best Bets
Race 1: ALLTHATGLISTENS (9)
Trainer: Daragh Bourke
Jockey: Alain Cawley
As the only mare in this novices’ hurdle ALLTHATGLISTENS gets all the allowances and will be hard to beat if ready following a more than 200-day absence. She encountered heavy ground when scoring at Ayr on her latest start last August and that augers well for her on the easy conditions today.
Race 2: DUC DE GRISSAY (3)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson
Jockey: Ryan Mania
With just 2lb separating top to bottom in this three-runner contest it’s pushing it to describe it as a handicap. The most likely scorer is DUC DE GRISSAY who although yet to win this season will be well suited by the testing conditions. Kalaharry was beaten a long way here last time and Manetti is too inconsistent to be relied on to repeat his recent win over shorter at Carlisle.
