Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing at Pontefract, Windsor and Stratford.
Pontefract Best Bets
Race 2: GO WELL SPICY (6)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Hollie Doyle
Things didn’t work out for GO WELL SPICY in a similar contest at Leicester a fortnight ago when she was heavily backed but faded. She’s up a notch on the class ladder but will enjoy the testing conditions and is capable of bo7ncong back for her in form stable.
Race 6: INTERNATIONAL LAW (7)
Trainer: Richard Fahey
Jockey: Cam Hardie
It might pay to be on the pace in these stamina sapping conditions and INTERNATIONAL LAW has the armoury to do well. He hasn’t won on turf since 2017 but when fourth to Hammer Gun here last month was in contention until approaching the final furlong. Important to his claims is that he’s drawn on the rail, and is in the perfect place to attack.
Windsor Best Bets
Race 1: SIR ARTHUR DAYNE (2)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Tom Marquand
SIR ARTHUR DAYNE looked to enjoy the step up to this mile when a strong finishing third behind Tell Me All at the Ayr Western meeting. The application of a visor also appeared to assist the selection who should go 8n the ground and pleased connections in his final gallop.
Race 4: TORCELLO (5)
Trainer: Shaun Lycett
Jockey: Megan Nicholls
Hat-trick seeker TORCELLO delights in these easy conditions and looked a step ahead of the assessor when storming home at Epsom and looking like he wouldn’t mind going further. Consequently this extra 300 metres should by a help rather than a hindrance.
Stratford Best Bets
Race 1: ONTHEFRONTFOOT (2)
Trainer: Donald McCain
Jockey: Harry Skelton
ONTHEFRONTFOOT holds the cards in a fascinating opener and can complete a hat-trick. His front running style saw him come home unchallenged at Cartmel and even though he’s been off for five months he’s probably got more scope than his main market rival Ferrobin.
Race 2: MAIRE BANRIGH (1)
Trainer: Dan Skelton
Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
A breathing operation injected fresh life into MAIRE BANRIGH over hurdles last season when she was two from two and now she switches to fences. She has schooled with aplomb and can give The Skelton no yet another winner at their local track.
Race 6: LEROY BROWN (1)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies
Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
LEROY BROWN’s bumper success at Worcester is probably the best form on offer and with his stable firing out early winners he can get the better of Shantou Express. He has to concede 7lb to the latter but has been in good form working towards this second career outing.
