Warren Lenferna previews Hollywoodbets Greyville card – Wednesday 18 March 2020

Warren Lenferna at the Hollywoodbets Sizzling Summer Challenge Handover

With racing in some countries coming to a grinding halt, there will be plenty of focus on the meetings here in South Africa and today’s eight-race programme taking place at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Here is a brief race by race guide of which horses should be worth including in your bets.

Race 1: Hard to assess as most are making their debuts. LIGHT THAT LOOSE (1), TREAD SWIFTLY (2) and THE SNOW WAR (5) caught the eye in the trials and could go close on debut. FLYING PETER (3) looks a nice horse and should have come on from his first run. He could be the one to beat.

Race 2: TRANSONIC (11) caught the eye in his stable debut last time and can go one better. He is a must for most bets.

Race 3: SPANISH OASIS (1) is well tried but has the speed, gets the draw and will now be ridden by log leading rider, Warren Kennedy. She has a bright chance but not an easy race. She could be good enough to banker for the PA.

Race 4: JOSEPH JAGGER (2) and SPECIAL BLEND (6) have solid form and look set to fight this race out. Boxed exactas could be the way to go. Special Blend kicked on powerfully last time and could change the form of the Howells yard.

Race 5: A few with big chances here. COLLABRO (2) ran an honest race last time and can never be ignored. The blinkers could well make all the difference with HIGH VOLTAGE (7) and I feel he is better than his last run. AD ALTISIMA (9) is holding form and rates the one to beat.

Race 6: NOT NOW PUSSYCAT (2) looks to be the value for me for a place. BRUNILDA (7) won her maiden well last time. Marcus keeps the ride but RACHEL (6) looks ready to win now.

Race 7: A tough one! KEEP ON DANCING (5) could end up being anything. Include her as she looks useful. Stablemate SPIFFY (7) has the ability to surprise. FLEEK (11) and PINA COLADA (12) have undeniable winning chances in this. My narrow first pick is Fleek.

Race 8: If you’re looking for a banker on the card, BACKPACKER (4) could be the one. He is a nice colt, Anton Marcus keeps the ride for an inform yard and he has the form to win. There has been some early betting support for him from 26/10 into 14/10.
