Another Cape Town based conditioner Brett Crawford may head off for a holiday to WHITE RIVER should his charge pass the line first. The forthright horseman was quietly confident about his runner’s chances and said, “He did very well with his gallop and is still improving after being gelded. I don’t think the race will be run to a fast pace. I make the biggest dangers African Night Sky, Majestic Mambo and Made To Conquer.”
Brett Crawford said about White River’s draw of 13, “I would have preferred lower but it’s ok.” Asked whether the three-year-old by Trippi had improved with gelding, he replied, “He has certainly shown that he has improved in his work at home. I think he has as good a chance as Edict Of Nantes had last year.”

Corne Orffer partners White River for his boss Brett Crawford and he had the following words regarding his charge, “His prep has been good and he ran a very decent race in the Daily News 2000 after just being gelded about 3 weeks prior. He is doing very well at the moment and is in a good space right now. I don’t think there will be much of a pace this year just looking at the field so we will have to just ride him accordingly. I definitely make Made To Conquer a big runner and also you can’t leave out African Night Sky.”
Winning Form – Magic Tips Comment:
This capable son of Trippi is top conditioner Brett Crawford’s only entrant in this prestigious event and the three-year old has progressed smartly in this province. He had a decent first gelded run in the Daily News 2000 when he was probably moved on too soon in that fast run contest. That said, he finished half a length and one length behind DO IT AGAIN and MAJESTIC MAMBO respectively, and he faces the pair on 1kg better terms. The bay gelding is another who will race up with the speed and he represents great each/way value.
Verdict: Quality gelding, race will be run to suit him, weighted to finish closer to 8 (Do It Again) and 9 (Majestic Mambo).
