Race 5.

Three 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s best bet, LOVELIER is taken to lead the field home. Her last four runs have yielded two seconds and two third place finishers, the latest one of those second places over 1100M by 1.8L and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She will have to negotiate draw twelve, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much energy. She will also be having her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should prove hard to topple in this line-up.

TIEMPE PASSATE showed good improvement to finish fourth last time out over a mile, just over three and a half lengths behind the winner. She made good late progress that day and the drop in trip should not be an issue. She is another who will be having her first run for her new trainer, but she did win her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. She faces an even wider gate fifteen, but given her style of racing, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

KEYNOTE finished fifth on debut over five furlongs, just over two and a half lengths back from the winner and was immediately rested for 61 weeks. She returns here after putting in two encouraging barrier trials and the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them. From a kinder draw six, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

LARYNX had his consistency rewarded with a 1.3L victory last time out over six furlongs when returning from a 25 week break, which clearly was just what he needed. The gelding has pulled gate five and should turn in another honest performance today.

ZOUOLOGIST showed plenty of toe before ending up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, just over two lengths off the winner when returning from a shorter 10 week rest. He faces a wide draw nine, but nevertheless he should be right up there when they hit the line.

CECILIA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a seventh spot finish next time out when stepping up to seven furlongs, just over four and a half lengths adrift of the victor. She returns from a 15 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but she like to race up with the pace and should put her handy draw three to good use.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, ROCK THE DREAM is a 4yr old filly taking on males and had finished third twice prior to winning her last start over seven furlongs when putting three lengths between herself and the opposition. She kicked clear at the 175M mark that day and the race was over as a contest from that point. She has pulled gate seven and the double is very much on the cards.

OAKFIELD STORM missed out on his hat-trick when finishing a head second last time out over a mile, but he came three wide into the home stretch that day, before staying on well, only to be denied victory in the shadow of the post. From gate five, the gelding will be having his peak run since returning from an 11 week rest. He will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

LADY PATRICIA is a 5yr old mare who although recorded as finishing fifth last time out over 1300M, was just three lengths behind the winner, this despite being held up between the 200M and 100M marks. The blinkers are re-fitted for today’s run and notwithstanding a wideish draw eight, she should keep the top pair honest.

Race 8.

Two 3yr old fillies and a 5yr old mare could dominate the finish to this race and secure the trifecta, but with the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the door may have opened for LE MELODY to chalk up her second career victory. She won by three lengths when making her debut over five furlongs and would have learnt from that outing. She returns from a 22 week break, but has had the two barrier trials, winning the latest. She jumps from gate nine and looks to be the one to side with here.

MOETTA is seldom far off the action and hit the front at the top of the home straight before being snared on the line for a head defeat in her latest outing over five furlongs. She gets gate six and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

IN SPADES won her penultimate start over five furlongs and then ended up in second spot next time out over the same sprint trip, two lengths behind the winner. She hung out approaching the home turn as well as down the straight, so should have finished closer to the winner than she officially did. She has pulled a wide draw ten, but she should nevertheless be included in all bets.
