Race 4

OTTOMAN EMPIRE has consistent formlines to his name and was returning from a 12-week rest when finishing third last time out over 1700M, just two lengths behind the winner. He made good late progress that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw thirteen, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

WOLF DANCER went from jump to wire to win his maiden race last time out over seven furlongs by one and a half lengths. He takes on stronger here, but from a kinder gate five, he may well be up to the task at hand, as he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

CHARMED DESTINY raced just behind the leaders and then stayed on well to end up in fourth place last time out over 1700M, 3.7L back from the victor. The gelding faces a wideish gate eight, but he is another who should relish the extra distance and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. LOUNERSE is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she won over six furlongs three runs back, finished third in her penultimate start again over six furlongs and then ninth in her latest outing when stepping up to seven furlongs, 9.2L adrift of the winner, but she overraced in the early stages and then understandably had nothing to offer over the closing stages. She has her peak run after returning from a 23-week break and from a handy draw two and with having 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, as well as dropping to what appears to be a more suitable distance, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

NASDAQ DUBAI has posted two solid runs for his new stable and was returning from a 29-week break when finishing second in his latest outing over five furlongs, just a length off the winner. He was slow away that day and came the widest of them all into the home straight, but from a useful draw four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

SO GREYSFUL is a 4-year-old filly who was held up at the 300M pole but delivered a powerful finish to win her last start over 1190M, by a half-length. She is drawn one inside the latter and should not be lightly ignored.

Race 6

A 4-year-old and a 3-year-old filly, as well as a 5-year-old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, NEVER ISLAND is taken to lead the field home. She won over a mile three runs back, finished tenth in her penultimate start over the same journey and then sixth in her latest outing over 1650M, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner, but she did come three wide into the home stretch on that occasion, but stayed on over the latter stages and that was also at a stronger centre. The filly has pulled a cosy draw three and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.

CREDIT CONTROLLER won her maiden race last time out, albeit by just a short-head. She finished strongly from some way back in that event and from a wide gate ten, she should be doing her best work late.

TOO MUCH HEAVEN is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over a mile, two lengths adrift of the winner, but she overraced in the early and middle stages. Nevertheless, she battled all the way down to the wire and from gate seven, she should turn in another honest effort today.

Race 7

KERCHAK has cracked pole position and although recorded as finishing fifth last time out, he was just under a length behind the winner, when having his second outing for his new trainer and returning from a 112-week spell. The fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them.

CABSAV has finished second in his last two starts and raced just behind the frontrunners, before being held up at the 200M mark and then having to weave his way through traffic down the home straight last time out over 1175M, ending up just a half-length back from the victor. The gelding jumps from a handy draw three and will be hoping to go one better today.

BONJOUR RUPERT encountered traffic problems in the home stretch when finishing twelfth in his latest outing over six furlongs, 2.8L off the victor, so he had his excuse. From gate six and with better luck in running, he should be included in all bets.
