Race 5

AFTERBOOMER had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over seven furlongs, by two lengths at the fourth time of asking. He was slow away that day but struck the front at the 250M mark to win going away. The gelding returns from a 39-week break, but has had the benefit of four barrier trials and whilst facing stronger here, he may well be up to the task at hand.

CANADIAN EXPRESS has consistent formlines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fourth-place finish next time out over the same journey, 1.8L back from the winner. He raced just behind the front runners in that event and then stayed on well over the closing stages. The form of that race has been franked and although drawn wideish in gate eight, he should be doing his best work late.

WILD CALM is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys and is the stable companion of the top choice. She kicked clear of the field at the top of the home straight before holding off the chasing pack in the dash down to the line to win her maiden race last time out over a mile by a length. From her kinder draw three, she makes a solid backup for the yard and although returning from an 18-week break, she had two barrier trials.

Race 6

Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, MARTINI MUMMA is taken to lead the field home. She has only had two runs to date, finishing fourth on debut over five furlongs and then showing the expected improvement to win next time out over the same sprint trip by putting 5.3L between herself and the balance of the field. She showed plenty of toe that day and hung out on the home turn, but was still able to trounce the opposition. In addition, the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and could prove hard to topple.

ALOT A LIP won her penultimate start over 1150M and then disappointed when ending up in eighth place next time out over six furlongs, 7.8L adrift of the victor, but she jumped awkwardly in that event, bumping another runner and was reported to have been lame in her off-foreleg, so that effort should be ignored. She returns from a 23-week break but has had two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing second in the latest. The filly has a useful draw three and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

GETTY won his maiden race last time out over five furlongs by one and a half lengths, when having his first run for his new trainer and returning from a 10-week rest. He went from jump to wire that day and from a wide gate eleven, he is likely to attempt a similar tactic here.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, ZOUATICA followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a tenth-place finish next time out over the same trip, 4.2L back from the winner. He sat just behind the leaders that day and then battled all the way down to the wire. Whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

BON FRANKIE has cracked pole position and won over seven furlongs three runs back, finished third in his next two runs, the latest outing over seven furlongs, just over a half-length behind the winner, but he had to be held up approaching the home turn, before making good late progress over the latter stages.

GUNDY GUY completed his hat-trick with victories over five and six furlongs and then 1300M last time out by 1.3L. The gelding went from gun to tape in that contest and from a cosy draw four, he could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

Race 8

Two 5-year-old and a 6-year-old mare could dominate the outcome to this contest and secure the exacta, but TAVOLO is the slight preference. Her six runs to date have yielded two wins, three seconds and one third-place finish, the latest, one of those seconds over six furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She was slow away and then shifted out at the 300M mark in that event, but the objection lodged against her for that movement was overruled and she remained as the runner-up. She has a handy draw four and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

WHITE LIAR is the stablemate of the top choice and has finished second in her last three outings, the latest over 1100M, just a half length back from then winner. She did however race green down the home stretch and from one gate inside the top pick, she will be hoping to go one better today and makes a solid reserve for the yard.

MY GIRONA has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when third over six furlongs, just over one and a half lengths behind the winner. She raced just behind the speed that day and was only run out of it late. The mare has pulled gate six and should be included in all bets.
