Race 5

Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, ANTISOCIAL is taken to lead the field home. She won on debut over five furlongs three runs back, finished third in her penultimate start, again over five furlongs and then second in her latest outing over the same c&d, just a head behind the winner. She was, however, slow away that day, but struck the front at the 200M mark, only to be snared in the shadow of the post. She will have to negotiate a wide draw eleven, but she has her peak run after returning from a 32-week break and could prove hard to topple.

SO YOU SUGGEST has only had two runs to date, finishing third on debut over six furlongs and then showing the expected improvement to win next time out over 1100M, albeit by just a short-head. The filly jumped awkwardly in that event and raced three wide throughout, but from her kinder draw five, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

COOL DUKE won first time out over five furlongs, despite racing three wide without cover. He faces stronger here and has pulled gate seven, but the gelding will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. IMATRUESTAR raced three wide without cover, but stayed on well to finish third last time out over seven furlongs, just under three and a half lengths back from the winner. The gelding faces a wide draw nine, but on the plus side, he will have 4kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

KAPSALI showed solid improvement to win his latest outing over 1500M by putting four lengths between himself and the opposition. He was slow away on that occasion but finished powerfully from some way back and from gate five, he should be doing his best work late.

OAKFIELD REDGUM is a 5-year-old mare who takes on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action and stayed on well when finishing fourth last time out over a mile, just over one length back from the winner. She is from a handy draw three and is likely to turn in another honest performance today.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, OCTOBER REVOLUTION kicked clear of the field at the 100M pole, only to be collared in the last stride to finish second last time out over five furlongs, a mere head behind the victor. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, he will have 2kgs removed from his back for the services of his claiming apprentice.

WHO EVER THOUGHT followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 2.2L back from the winner, when having his first run for his new trainer and returning from an 18-week absence. The gelding was making good late progress in that event and from gate six, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

OBLIVION has cracked pole position and made a marked improvement to win his last start over five furlongs by a half-length. The gelding delivered a powerful finish that day and if able to confirm that effort, he should be considered a big runner in this line-up.

Race 8

SOJU SESSION raced five wide without cover but was still able to deliver a powerful finish to win her last start over 800M by a neck. She will have to deal with a wide draw ten, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

SNOWDROP has consistent form lines to her name, having finished second in her last two runs, the latest over five furlongs, just 1.3L off the winner. She has pulled an even wider gate thirteen, but she is another who should be doing her best work late and will be looking to go one better today.

PENNY FOR lost a length at the start and then hung in over the last 100M to end up in fourth spot last time out over five furlongs, 1.3L behind the winner. She on the other hand has a cozy draw two and gets a set of blinkers re-fitted for today’s outing. If this move has the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.
