Race 4

ARCTIC LEGEND has posted two solid last runs, the latest when sixth over a mile, just 2.8L behind the winner, but he overraced in the early and middle stages that day and was immediately rested for 38 weeks and moved to another stable. He returns here after having had two barrier trials, winning the latest and despite a wide draw nine, he looks to be the one to side with here.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to SILENT TOMAHAWK, who finished third on debut over 1100M, just under a half-length behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected and from a kinder draw two, she could be the biggest danger to the top choice.

SPECULA finished second first time out over six furlongs and then had to be eased at the 1000M mark, but ran on from some way back to finish fourth last time out over the same c&d, 6.3L back from the winner. She returns here from a 24-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest to showcase her well-being.

Race 5

ENSIGN PARKER put 3.3L between himself and the opposition when winning his last outing over six furlongs. He raced just behind the pacesetters before striking the front at the 200M mark to record a comfortable victory. The gelding faces a wide gate twelve, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

PARIS LAD won on debut over six furlongs and then made good late progress to finish third next time out over 1280M, just under two lengths off the winner. He faces a slightly better gate nine and should be suited to the drop-in trip.

NOT IN DOUBT is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she won her maiden race over six furlongs at the second time of asking and then finished tenth last time out over five furlongs, just over two and a half lengths back from the victor. She was returning from a 23-week spell that day and raced three wide without cover, but the form of that race has been franked. From her kinder draw three, she should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, ROYAL CHARGE has cracked pole position and was bumped at the start and then again at the 500M pole and came four wide into the home straight when ending up in third spot last time out over seven furlongs, just under three and a half lengths adrift of the winner, so he had his excuses. That was also at a stronger centre, and he will be having his peak run after returning from a 20-week rest.

Although OUR BOY OLLIE is recorded as finishing fifth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, he was just 1.5L behind the winner. He overraced in the early stages and was forced to ease at the 1000M mark, but kicked clear of the field at the 300M pole, only to be run out of it over the closing stages. The gelding has pulled draw six and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and should be right up there when they hit the line.

DANZA IN THE DARK goes for his hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and the latest over a mile by one and a half lengths and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter, will get 2kgs removed from his allocated weight and the trio is very much on the cards.

Race 7

FULD’S DOUBT is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she had nothing go her way and was returning from a 21-week rest when winning her last start over five furlongs by 0.8L, so that victory was impressive. She was hampered at the start, raced three wide throughout, and had to be checked at the 600M mark, before finally having to weave her way through traffic in the home straight. She will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but on the plus side, she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

WHO EVER THOUGHT won his penultimate start over five furlongs and then finished third next time out over 900M, 2.2L off the winner when having his first run for his new trainer and returning from an 18-week break. He finished strongly in that contest and the form of the race has been franked. He on the other hand has a useful gate two and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

PROVENCAL is a 5-year-old mare who had her consistency rewarded with a victory last time out over five furlongs, albeit by just head. She battled courageously for that win and from draw seven, and with the services of a 3kgs claiming apprentice as well as having her peak run after returning from a 23-week absence, she should be involved in the finish.
