Race 5

PROPHET’S MAGIC is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, 2.8L back from the winner, but he lost three lengths at the start that day and hung in down the home straight. He faces a wide draw ten, but if jumping on terms, he could be too good for this field and is taken to be the day’s value bet.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to CRANBERRIES who stayed on well from some way back to finish fifth last time out over a mile, just under six and a half lengths behind the victor. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and although drawn wider in gate thirteen, she should be doing her best work late.

MAJOR DESIRE has finished second in her last two starts, the latest over seven furlongs, three lengths off the winner. She is drawn even wider in gate fifteen, but on the plus side, she will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and will be hoping to go one better here. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 6

A 3-year-old and a 4-year-old filly, as well as a 6-year-old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but TOES IN THE WATER is taken to lead the field home. She goes for his hat-trick after two victories over seven furlongs, the latest by three lengths. The filly kicked clear of the opposition at the entrance to the home straight and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The form of that race has been franked and from a handy draw two and with the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice, she looks to be the one that they all must beat.

LUNA ROCKS was returning from a 28-week break and having her first run for her new trainer when finishing second in her latest outing over five furlongs, beaten just one length. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and from a useful draw four and having 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

KAPPY’S ANGEL followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a tenth-place finish next time out over 1175M, 4.7L back from the winner. She has pulled gate seven and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

Race 7

WAL’S ANGELS has his hat-trick run after victories over six and seven furlongs, the latest by 2.8L. He went from jump to wire that day and from his cosy draw four, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

SUSPECT showed solid improvement to win his last start over today’s journey by a half-length. He raced just behind the frontrunners and then struck the front at the 200M pole to record his maiden win. The form of that race has been franked and jumping from a handy gate two and with having 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he could chalk up a quick double.

NETO has cracked pole position and sat second before staying on doggedly to end up in fourth spot last time out over 1300M, 2.7L behind the winner. The gelding gets the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, CLIFF HOUSE, is a six-time winner from thirteen starts, with two seconds and two third-place finishes to back that up. He delivered a powerful finish to win his last start over a mile by just under a half-length and will be having his peak run after returning from a 12-week rest. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide gate seventeen, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

KINGSTON CHARM is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over a mile with a third place finish next time out over 1500M, four lengths back from the winner, but she overraced in the early and middle stages in that contest and was hampered at the 1000M mark, before not getting the clearest of passages in the home straight, so she had her excuses. She faces a wide draw ten, but nevertheless, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

NIQUE PRINCE missed out on his hat-trick when finishing fourth in his penultimate start over nine furlongs and then ended up in seventh place last time out over ten furlongs, 7.7L behind the winner. The gelding stayed on well in that event and from a kinder draw five, he should be involved in the finish.
