Race 5

CASINO LORD was returning from a 21-week break when losing a length at the start and never really going on with his effort when finishing thirteenth last time out over five furlongs, just under five and a half lengths behind the winner, so a line should be drawn through that effort. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but a repeat of his penultimate start when finishing third over six furlongs would see him in the winner’s box, and he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

RIVA DEL SOL is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she delivered a powerful finish over the closing stages to win her last start over five furlongs by a half lengths going away. She faces a wide draw thirteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

RAGING RUSH followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a third-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 1.7L back from the winner, but he hung out from the 300M mark in that event. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and from gate six, he should be included in all bets.

Race 6

DASHO LENNIE won his penultimate start over a mile and then finished third next time out when stepping up to 1900M, three lengths back from the winner, but that was at a stronger centre. The form of that race has however been franked and jumping from gate five, he will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today.

ITA is a 6-year-old mare taking on males, but she showed solid improvement to finish third in her latest outing over 1500M, 3.8L off the winner, this despite jumping awkwardly bumping another runner. She made good late progress in that event and from one gate outside the top pick, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

SIZZLE MINIZZLE has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when sixth over seven furlongs, just over a length and a half behind the winner, but he jumped awkwardly in that event and raced three wide the whole way. The gelding is in turn drawn one outside the latter and should not be easily overlooked.

Race 7

There are four unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe that they can win first-time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, the day’s best bet, SATIN STILETTO may well prove to be the best. She has cracked pole position and finished third on debut over five furlongs and then showed the expected improvement to win by 0.8L next time out over the same trip, when returning from a 15-week rest. The filly delivered a powerful finish to claim a well-timed victory and would have come on further with that run under her belt.

NYMPHADORA was hampered at the 700M mark and came three wide into the home straight and was bumped again at the 300M pole when finishing second in her latest outing over 1100M, 0.8L behind the winner. That was at a stronger centre and the form of that race has been franked. Whilst facing a wide gate ten, she could be the biggest threat to the top pick.

CANAMBLE won by 0.8L first time out over 1100M, notwithstanding hanging out down the home straight. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be involved in the finish, jumping from draw seven.

Race 8

JET EMPRESS is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she has only had the four runs to date, chalking up two wins and two third-place finishes, the latest victory coming over 900M by two lengths. She showed plenty of toe that day and from her draw five, she will be hoping to score a quick double.

STAR OF KINGS returns here from a 30-week spell without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but he won his penultimate start over 800M and then finished a disappointing fourteenth next time out over five furlongs, 6.2L adrift of the victor, but that was at a stronger centre. The gelding has pulled a useful draw two and he should keep the top pick honest.

CHAMPERS GIRL is a 3-year-old filly who had solid form prior to finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, 9.3L behind the winner, but she overraced in the early and middle stages that day and hung out approaching the home turn, before her jockey dropped his crop at the 150M pole. She has her first run after a shorter 21-week break, but has finished third in her only barrier trial. Whilst having to deal with a wide draw thirteen, she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much gas.
