Race 6

WHENITRAINSITPOURS is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had the six runs to date, recording two firsts and two second place finishes, so she clearly has some ability. She ended up in sixth place in her latest outing over six furlongs, three lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She raced just behind the leader that day and then stayed on well over the closing stages and whilst returning from a 13 week rest, she did finish third in her only barrier trial. From a handy draw two and with having 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

MINIMAL won a short-head last time out over 1100M at the third time of asking when returning from a 19 week break, despite his jockey dropping a rein. He has his first run for his new trainer, but has had the one barrier trial where he finished second and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here, notwithstanding jumping from a wide gate eleven.

SHADOW CHASER has his first run after a similar 13 week absence, but has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but he is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over 1100M, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. The gelding hit the front at the top of the home straight that day and was only run out of it late. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out that contest subsequently winning. He has pulled draw seven and will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, JAILBREAK has consistent formlines to his name, finishing second in his latest outing over 1300M, one length behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day, but ran on well over the latter stages and the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked pole position and will have 2kgs taken off his back for the service of his claiming apprentice and could prove hard to topple in this line-up.

THE CRUISER has shown marked improvement in his last two starts and was friendless in the betting markets when going from jump to wire to win his last outing over six furlongs by a neck. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but he is likely to adopt similar tactics here.

MAJOR TIME has finished second in three of his last five runs, the latest over this six furlong sprint, 0.8L back from the winner. He will have to negotiate a wideish draw eight, but on the plus side he will get 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and will be looking to go one better today.

Race 8

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested.

CYBORG followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a second place finish last time out over the same journey, beaten just a short-head, this after jumping awkwardly and being bumped shortly after the start and then coming three wide into the home stretch. He gets gate eight and should be right up there when they hit the line.

INVINCIBLE DASH is drawn one outside the top pick and stayed on well when ending up in third spot last time out over seven furlongs, 4.8L adrift of the victor. He has his peak run after returning from a 20 week rest and should keep the former honest.

FOODIE KING is in turn drawn one outside the latter and won his penultimate start over 2100M and then finished third last time out over the same c&d, just under a length off the winner. He takes a drop in trip, but this should not be an issue.

Race 9

BLACKADDER overraced in the early stages, but looked a possible winner before being run out of it close to home over the seven furlongs, eventually ending up in third place, 2.3L behind the winner. He gets draw six and will certainly enjoy the drop in distance and as such, is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. RIVALDO won his penultimate start over 1300M and then battled all the way down to the wire before finishing seventh next time out over 1250M, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He jumps from a wideish gate nine, but should be doing his best work late.

PETAIN raced just behind the leaders and then stayed on well to finish fourth in his latest outing over 1100M, just under two lengths adrift of the winner. He has pulled a useful gate four and should not be lightly overlooked here.
