Race 5

The day’s best bet, DUKE OF GORDON has posted two solid last runs, winning his maiden race last time out over this c&d by one and a half lengths. He raced just behind the leaders that day and then kicked clear of the opposition at the top of the home straight and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the line. From his handy draw four, he could prove hard to topple in this line-up.

GWAN SO also won his maiden race last time out, but in his case over 1300M by a length and the form of that race has been franked. He finished well that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He is drawn one inside the top choice and could be his biggest threat.

SHOREBREAK tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in fifth place last time out over 1500M, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner. From gate seven, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but CRAZY TRAIN gets the nod for top spot. She is seldom far off the action and finished third last time out over 1300M, one and a half lengths back from the winner when returning from a 30-week break. She did jump awkwardly that day and then had to be held up early in the home straight before finally seeing daylight at the 350M mark to finish off her race well. From gate seven, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

MASCHERATA has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three runs, the latest when second over six furlongs, just a head adrift of the victor. She did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight in that contest but only failed to overhaul the victor in the shadow of the post. She gets a cosy draw four and will get 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

CREAM RISES jumped awkwardly but stayed on well to end up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, two and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He gets draw six and will be having his peak run after returning from a 17-week rest and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

SABINO followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a third-place finish next time out over the same spring trip, one length behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He showed plenty of toe that day and although drawn wide in gate ten out of eleven, he should use that early speed to work his way across without using up too much energy. As such, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

MISSION VALUE showed marked improvement to win his last start over this c& d by 0.8L notwithstanding jumping awkwardly. He hit the front at the 200M pole and then fought off all the challengers over the latter stages. He has his peak run after returning from a 66-week absence, but the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy seems that they were right in believing that he still has something more to offer them.

DAICHI has consistent form lines to his name finishing fourth in his latest outing over six furlongs, one length behind the winner. He was returning from a 16-week rest that day and did not get the clearest of passages in the home stretch. From a useful draw three and with better luck in running today, he should be considered a big runner here.

Race 8

SACHELLO is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had the four runs to date and missed out on her hat-trick when finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, one and a half lengths off the winner, but she was hampered down at the start and was immediately rested for 23 weeks. She clearly has some ability and returns here after having has two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. She has pulled gate two and will be aided by having 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

SELHURST PARK won his penultimate start over five furlongs and then did not get a clear passage in the home stretch when finishing third last time out over five furlongs, 1.2 lengths back from the winner. He is drawn one outside the top pick and should keep her honest.

CRIMSON ROCK has won two of his last three starts and put a disappointing penultimate effort firmly behind him when winning his last outing over five furlongs by one and a half lengths when returning from a 22-week spell. He showed lots of speed on that occasion and gets a wideish gate eight, but on the plus side, he will get 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice.
