Race 4.

This looks to be a tricky race to start off the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is advised. DIMITRI is seldom too far off the action and although recorded as finishing seventh last time out over seven furlongs, he was just 2.8L behind the winner. He just did not quite see out the trip that day and from a handy draw three, he is sure to enjoy the drop in distance.

INARI FOX was denied a clear run in the home straight when finishing eighth last time out over 1100M, 0.8L behind the winner. He gets gate six and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. SEA STITCH showed marked improvement when finishing fourth last time out over 1100M, 0.8L back from the winner. He kicked clear of the field at the entrance to the home straight and was only collared close to home. He has his peak run since returning from a lengthy 51 week absence and although drawn the widest of them all in gate sixteen, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5.

Two 5yr old mares could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but PRINCESS SPARKLES gets the nod for top spot. She has consistent formlines to her name and battled all the way down to the wire when ending up in seventh place last time out over seven furlongs, just over one and a half lengths off the winner. She has pulled a wide gate twelve, but she should be doing her best work late.

JAC THE GREAT made good late progress when finishing fifth last time out 1300M, three and a half lengths adrift of the winner and on that showing, she is likely to appreciate the extra ground on offer here. From her kinder draw four, she should be right up there when they hit the wire.

KING FAROUK is drawn one outside the latter and finished sixth last time out over six furlongs, just over four lengths behind the winner when returning from an 18 week rest. The gelding shifted out from the 300M mark that day, but with ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd in the irons, he will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle today.

Race 6.

The day’s value bet, PRAEFEROX raced wide without cover throughout, but still managed to finish second last time out, collared in the shadow of the post, ending up just a head behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has cracked pole position and will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice. He does return from an 18 week break, but did win his only barrier trial to prove his fitness.

Although COSMO KRAMER is recorded as finishing fifth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, he was only just over a length behind the winner, this despite overracing in the early and middle stages. He gets draw six and will have his first run after a 25 week absence, but has put in two encouraging barrier trials. RAPIDS is drawn one outside the latter and put his disappointing penultimate run over six furlongs behind him when finishing third last time out over the same trip, just under a length back from the victor, notwithstanding coming the widest of them all into the home straight. He has his peak run after returning from a 33 week break and will get the services of a 3kgs claiming apprentice.

Race 7.

YOUR TOO GOOD is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but did follow up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a second place finish over the same sprint distance, just a half length off the winner. She showed plenty of toe that day and with her getting gate six and 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

FORTYFIVE PARKLANE missed out on his hat-trick after wins over 1100M and six furlongs when finishing seventh last time out over five furlongs, 4.3L back from the winner, but it should be noted that he had to be eased at the 50M mark that day, so should have finished closer to the winner than he officially did. He jumps from a wideish gate eight, but will be hoping to bounce back to winning way’s today.

GIMME THE CASH is another 3yr old filly in the race. She on the other hand goes for her hat-trick after victories over five furlongs and the latest over six furlongs by half a length. She is another speedball and gets a useful gate three, as well as 3kgs removed from her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. After all things considered, the trio is very much on the cards.
