Race 6.

MR TABASCO is a 2yr old gelding taking on older horses, but he has only had the three runs to date and followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, just under a length behind the winner. He struck the front at the 200M mark that day and was only run out of it late. He gets a handy draw four and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

MY GIRONA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed solid improvement to finish third in her latest outing over seven furlongs, beaten a head in the shadow of the post. She jumped awkwardly in that contest, but recovered quickly to race up with the speed and then stayed on well. She faces a wide gate eleven, but she should use that early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

STERNY BEAR on the other hand has cracked pole position and has shown marked improvement in his last two starts, the latest when fourth over six furlongs, just over two lengths behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly and then overraced in the early and middle stages that day, so that effort was commendable.

Race 7.

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. However, two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to the race and secure the exacta, but MISS KOJIKI is given the nod for top spot. She has consistent formlines to her name and stayed on well when ending up in fourth place last time out over 1300M, 1.7L back from the winner. She returns from a 21 week break and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but from her useful draw four and with her having 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should be right up the when they hit the line.

GOLDEN FANTASY is another who will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice. She won over this sprint trip three runs back and finished sixth last time out over 1100M, five and a half lengths off the victor, but the form of that race has been franked. She raced up with the leaders that day and from a wide draw eleven today, she is likely to adopt similar tactics here and seems likely to enjoy the drop in distance.

ADAMDEEANT by contrast has pulled pole position and tried to go from jump to wire before finishing second in his latest outing over five furlongs, just under a half length behind the winner. He gets the services of another 2kg claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.

Race 8.

KARAOKE KING won his maiden race over 1300M by three lengths at the fourth time of asking, notwithstanding racing five wide approaching the home turn. He finished his race off strongly that day suggesting that he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here and he should put his pole position to good use.

KLOPP went from gun to tape when putting 2.8L between himself and the opposition to win his last start over six furlongs. He wasn’t stopping that day and, on that effort, he should have little issue with the extra distance of today’s race, jumping from draw six.

THE BOROUGH is drawn one inside the latter and stayed on well when fourth last time out over 1500M, just over four and a half lengths behind the winner. The gelding came four wide into the home stretch in that outing, so should have finished closer to the victor as a result.

Race 9.

The day’s best bet, BAY OF KOTOR has finished second and third in her last two runs, the latest over 1300M, just a half length back from the winner, but she was cramped for galloping room at the top of the home straight, but nevertheless made good late progress over the closing stages of the race when eventually seeing daylight. She gets a cozy draw three and will be having her peak run after returning from a 15 week break.

BEL SUONO is seldom far off the action having won over 1300M three runs back and although recorded as finishing sixth over the same 1300M in her latest outing, she was only just over two lengths behind the victor. She came from some way back in that contest and from a wide gate ten, she should be doing her best work late.

L’ESPERANCE ROCK has finished third in her last two runs, the latest over a mile, 1.2L back from the winner. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then stayed on well over the latter stages. From her kinder draw six, she should be involved in the finish.
