Race 4

KAZOU has consistent formlines to her name, having won two of her last four starts and followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a sixth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, two lengths back from the winner. She was making good late progress that day and from the widest draw of them all in gate ten, she should be doing her best work late and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

BEIRUT MISS was returning from a 12-week rest when winning her last start over 1300M by a neck, despite racing wide in the early stages. She jumps from gate seven and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

AMATHUBA is seldom too far off the action and raced three wide when finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, 3.2L back from the winner. The form of that race has been franked and whilst returning from a 15-week rest, she has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

AWESOME LAD was bumped at the start and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 350M mark before finishing well to end up in fourth spot last time out over a mile, just over five lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 20 weeks. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He resumes here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest to showcase his well-being. The gelding will have to negotiate gate eleven, but with better luck in running he could be the one that they all have to beat.

SUPER EFFORT finished sixth last time out over 1300M, 6.8L adrift of the victor, but he was reported to have bled that day, so that effort can be ignored. He gets a kinder gate six and returns here after a 68-week spell, but has had the two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

NEVER SECOND is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she was bumped shortly after the start and then raced three wide before coming four wide into the home straight to end up in tenth place last time out over 1100M, 4.7L back from the winner. She is drawn one inside the latter and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

Race 6

NAVAL COLLEGE has cracked pole position and won his penultimate start in the UK over twelve furlongs by a head and then finished second over nine furlongs, just a head behind the winner in his first start in Australia and the form of that race has been franked. It should however be noted that he jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner and then had to be held up on the turn, so he can be considered an unlucky loser. He will get 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and could get it right today.

MASTER COPY missed out on his hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and a mile when finishing fifth last time out over seven furlongs, 2.7L behind the winner, when returning from an 18-week absence. He did jump awkwardly on that occasion and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner shortly after the start and from his useful draw four, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

QUEENMAKER is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she won last time out by putting four and a half lengths between herself and the opposition over a mile. She struck the front at the top of the home straight and was never in danger of losing from that point. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, STROMBUS came four wide into the home stretch but battled all the way down to the wire to win his last start over seven furlongs by 1.3L. He has a cosy draw three and could give jockey Nash Rawiller his second winner in the day’s Jackpot, should the top pick win the second leg.

SEMANA is drawn one outside the top pick and is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she won her penultimate outing over six furlongs and then finished second next time out over seven furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner. She hit the front at the 150M and was only run out of it late in that event.

CADETSHIP in turn is drawn one outside the latter and also won his penultimate outing, but in his case, over seven furlongs and then ended up in twelfth place next time out over the same journey, just over five lengths off the winner, but the form of that race is turning out to be handy with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding has finished fifth in a subsequent barrier trial and should not be easily overlooked.
