Race 4

ALLASANDRA completed her hat-trick when winning her last start over seven furlongs by a length. She raced just behind the leaders that day before striking the front at the 200M mark and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. She gets a handy draw three and will get 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd.

ANAGAIN had consistent formlines to her name prior to being a tad disappointing when finishing fifth last time out over 1300M, just under five lengths behind the winner, but she raced three wide without cover in that contest and understandingly had little to come over the closing stages. She is drawn one outside the top choice and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today.

GOLDEN GATE has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when second over 1300M, just a short-head behind the winner. She lost a length at the start, but hit the front at the top of the home straight, only to be grabbed in the shadow of the post. The form of that race has been franked at despite a wideish gate eight, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 5

SUPER FRIENDSHIP jumped awkwardly and raced three wide throughout, but still managed to finish well to win his last outing over six furlongs, albeit by just a head. He was returning from a 75-week absence and having his first run in Australia since relocating from Hong Kong. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believed that he still had something more to offer them.

RHYTHMIC PULSE won over six furlongs three runs back and then put his disappointing penultimate run over the same sprint trip behind him when finishing second in his latest outing, also over six furlongs, just a head behind the winner. The gelding kicked clear of the opposition at the 150M pole and was only collared very late. From his kinder gate two, he should be viewed as a big runner in the line-up.

CEASEFIRE is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just a short-head off the winner, this after coming three wide approaching the home turn. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but will get the services of 1.5kg claiming apprentice Zac Lloyd to aid his cause.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, INVINCIBLE LEGEND had to be held up approaching the home turn but delivered a powerful finish to win his last start over 1500M by a half-length going away and has finished fifth in a subsequent barrier trial. The gelding has pulled a useful draw two and could prove hard to topple.

THE REPLICANT has consistent formlines to his credit and raced wide throughout without cover, but still managed to stay on well to finish sixth last time out over seven furlongs, 2.8L adrift of the winner. He has pulled gate six and will be having his peak run after returning from a 14-week rest.

AZARMIN is a 7yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has posted two solid last runs, the latest when fourth over a mile, 1.2L behind the victor. She was slow away that day, finding herself towards the back of the field and then had to be held up on the home turn, before battling all the way down to the wire. She gets a cosy draw three and will have 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

Race 7

PASSEGGIATA is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has won two of her last three starts, the latest over five furlongs by a neck when returning from a 20-week break. She showed plenty of toe that day and just lasted to fend off the late challengers and claim her third career victory from just the four outings to date. She will have to deal with a wide gate nine, but she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

OMNI MAN won his penultimate start over five furlongs and then overraced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages when ending up in eighth spot last time out over 1100M, 5.8L back from the winner. The gelding will have the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice and is drawn wide in gate fifteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

OAKFIELD DUKE on the other hand has cracked pole position and showed marked improvement to finish seventh in his latest outing over 1100M, just over three lengths behind the winner. He was returning from a 23-week spell on that occasion and overraced in the early stages, before coming three wide into the home stretch, so he had his excuses. If confirming that last effort, he should be involved in the finish.
