THAYER was unfancied when he produced a strong finish to be just out of the money on debut over this c & d, two weeks ago. The Greeff inmate was very slow into stride, which is a major concern, but he clearly has potential and would have benefitted from that experience. He does meet another competitive line-up and should build on that run, particularly if he jumps on terms.
Race 4: SILENT PARTNER(1)
Jockey: Agrella W – Trainer: Wiese M
SILENT PARTNER has raced in very strong company and he takes a huge drop in class today. The classy eight-year old has shown signs of a form return recently and he ran on well for a close 3rd over a mile on this track, four weeks ago. Admittedly, he prefers an extra furlong to be at his best but the likely strong pace will play right into his hands and the son of Silvano should go very close, even with his deserved big mass.
Race 5: BRIAR KING(4)
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Bremner Y
BRIAR KING hasn’t won for some time but has been thereabouts lately and represents the same formline as Silent Partner who runs in the previous contest. This Bezrin gelding has changed his tactics in recent outings but drops in class and finally gets the services of a top jockey. He has some work to do at the weights but could have a big say.
Race 6: AFRICAN HERITAGE(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A C
AFRICAN HERITAGE had excuses for her shocking last start but the break would have helped her cause. She showed above-average potential prior to that and shed her maiden tag on this track. The lightly raced four-year old is bred to love this extra distance and she takes a big drop in class. The daught- er of Dynasty deservedly shoulders top weight but she could bounce back to her best and take all the beating. She has plenty of room for further improvement.

Race 3: BLACKBERRY WINE(10)
Jockey: Webber E – Trainer: Sham D
This is a most intriguing conditions plate and an exciting finish is expected. The former Gauteng raider BLACKBERRY WINE has had two moderate prep runs on this surface and she will be cherry-ripe on her peak run. She is extremely well treated on the official ratings and jumps from a midfield draw. She is certainly capable of upsetting in this field.
