Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: FORTISSIMUS(7)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The three-year-old FORTISSIMUS had a fair first outing for her new yard and her conditioner has wasted no time in sending her to PE. The formline of that last Durbanville start could be worth following and this daughter of Mogok had shown some fair ability whilst resident in KZN. It is worth noting that she easily won her maiden in her only polytrack effort at Greyville and she may have an affection for this surface. The Justin Snaith inmate is extremely well treated at the weights on official ratings and she could prove tough to beat at her best.

Race 3: WARREN PLACE(2)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

WARREN PLACE proved ineffective with blinkers fitted on his polytrack debut at the start of this season and hardly surprisingly the headgear has been removed today. Trainer Alan Greeff’s charge had some smart form prior to that and the nine-week break helped his cause. He is well drawn today and the stable jockey gets the ride. The chestnut gelding could take a power of beating here.

Race 6: VILLA DEL LARGO(1)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Snaith/Fortune combination could again have a big say in the outcome of this opening leg of the jackpot. The pair team up with the five-year-old bay gelding PATAUDI who seems a track specialist. The son of Tiger Ridge has posted all three of his career wins on this surface, the latest over this c & d four weeks ago. That earned him a three-pound penalty but he has more to offer at this level and he jumps from a better draw today.

TOP BET
Race 8: CANDY CRUSH(5)
Jockey: Diego DE GOUVEIA – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

The Yvette Bremner stable holds a strong hand in this final event and CANDY CRUSH has plenty going for her. She was an impressive debut winner over subsequent victress LEOPARD ORCHID but had excuses for her shocking subsequent run at feature level. However, the break helped her cause and the daughter of Sail From Seattle bounced back to form with a smart effort on her polytrack and handicap debut, five weeks ago. She finished comfortably ahead of SEATTLE BURNING (3.5kgs worse off) that day and will be fitter now. The bay filly has obvious scope for further progress and she should go very close from her good draw.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 7: WHISTLING WONDER(7)
Jockey: Kersley RAMSAMY – Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

There could once again be a suicidal pace in this low-key handicap and that will suit the top rating, WHISTLING WONDER who has finally cracked a good draw. The Black Minnaloushe mare often finds a late burst on this surface and she is much better than her c & d record indicates. In fact, she was victorious on Greyville’s polytrack just over one year ago. She will benefit from a 2.5kgs apprentice allowance and can reverse the Pont Du Gard c & d formline with many of today’s rivals.
