Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1:
 SON OF SILVER(5)

Jockey: Ian STURGEON – Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

SON OF SILVER showed some decent juvenile form last term and he would have strengthened during his 21 week absence. The well-related Mogok gelding has obvious room for improvement and he had a fair penultimate run on this surface. He has unfortunately drawn wide today but should still be a force with a top jockey in the saddle

Top Bet
Race 2:
 CHAPEL QUEEN(4)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS  – Trainer: Dennis B

CHAPEL QUEEN is the obvious form choice and she should take a power of beating in this ordinary line-up. Anton Marcus knows the filly well and the Dennis Bosch inmate deserves her first career win.

Race 4: COURAGEOUS KING(5)

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: MARK DIXON

This is an exciting maiden contest which sees COURAGEOUS KING and THE DEACON clash once again. Only half a length separated the pair, in favour of the latter over this trip on the grass six weeks ago and the pair meet on similar weight terms. Both runners are suited to this surface and they wear blinkers for the second time in their respective careers. The former does have a slight edge with his good draw though, and first run could mean everything today.

Race 7:
 SARATOGA DANCER(2)

Jockey: Muzi YENI  – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

This is an intriguing pinnacle stakes contest and the Duncan Howells stable could control the pace with their trio of runners. Their classy four-year old gelding SARATOGA DANCER tends to pull in his races so the stable should ensure a decent gallop for their fast improving son of Mambo In Seattle. The bay gelding has won 4 of his last 6 starts, the latest an easy victory over STORMY ECLIPSE and the Summer Cup contender, Afrikaburn over a mile at Scottsville, five weeks ago. He meets the runner-up on identical weight terms today and his pedigree suggests that he should enjoy this rise in distance. He has definite claims of following up.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: TEPPANYAKI(10)

Jockey: Calvin NGCOBO – Trainer: Chris ERASMUS

The game frontrunner TEPPANYAKI’s last run is best ignored as he never got to the head of affairs after an awkward start. He had consistent form with frontrunning tactics prior to that and is a huge contender in this field. He has all the early gate speed to overcome his wide draw and the fact that there may not be any early challengers for the lead, makes his task that much easier to get to the front. The five-year old Dynasty gelding is c & d suited and he represents good each/way value in this field.
