This is an exciting maiden contest which sees COURAGEOUS KING and THE DEACON clash once again. Only half a length separated the pair, in favour of the latter over this trip on the grass six weeks ago and the pair meet on similar weight terms. Both runners are suited to this surface and they wear blinkers for the second time in their respective careers. The former does have a slight edge with his good draw though, and first run could mean everything today.

The bay gelding has won 4 of his last 6 starts, the latest an easy victory over STORMY ECLIPSE and the Summer Cup contender, Afrikaburn over a mile at Scottsville, five weeks ago. He meets the runner-up on identical weight terms today and his pedigree suggests that he should enjoy this rise in distance. He has definite claims of following up.

He has all the early gate speed to overcome his wide draw and the fact that there may not be any early challengers for the lead, makes his task that much easier to get to the front. The five-year old Dynasty gelding is c & d suited and he represents good each/way value in this field.
