Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: SEA URCHIN(6)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Garth PULLER

SEA URCHIN is above-average and the lightly raced four-year-old gelding has plenty of progress in him. He improved in each of his three runs and expectedly beat a subsequent winner with a bit in hand on this track last time out. The son of Fort Beluga takes a steep rise to the mile, but his pedigree suggests that he will love the distance. His good draw is a major plus and he could be way ahead of the handicapper’s assessment.

TOP BET

Race 4: I AM A ROCK(8)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

I AM A ROCK has slight issues exiting the gates, but he made smart improvement over this c & d, second time out. He has had no luck with draws to date but still ran on strongly for 3rd that day despite racing green. The runner-up of that contest achieved an almost ten length maiden victory next time out and this son of Judpot has plenty of scope for progress. He will again have to do things the hard way but is progressive and represents an in-form combination.

Race 5: EXECUTIVE POWER(8)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Mike MILLER

The three-year-olds are favourably weighted in this competitive sprint and the gelding of the classy EXECUTIVE POWER could make a real difference to the Mike Miller inmate. The son of Warm White Night has shown top ability from day one and he was outrun late by a classy older sort over this distance at a high level prior to the gelding. His smart early toe will stand him in good stead and he is a major contender with his low mass.

Race 7: GLIMMER OF SILVER(5)Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

GLIMMER OF SILVER has shown much-improved form on the polytrack but she should have no issues racing on the grass today. She seemed to be ‘crying’ out for this extra ground in recent efforts and her in-form conditioner has obliged. The form of her last run has worked out well, with her conqueror Heaps Of Fun finishing runner-up behind the top class Negroamaro in a Gauteng feature subsequently. This daughter of Silvano has more improvement to come and she should go close on her track debut.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 1: BELUGA(7)

Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

This is an extremely competitive handicap to open up the day’s proceedings and a thrilling finish is expected. The three-year-old BELUGA has a short but really effective burst of speed that has been ideal for this track. He takes on stronger now but is improving quickly and he went close at novice level over this c & d, four weeks ago. He is better treated on today’s handicap terms and should be a lively contender. However, there are quite a few older rivals who will provide a stiff test for the Dennis Drier-trained inmate.
