The 3rd (Liberado) and 7th (Flash Burn) placed entrants have won since to boost the formline and this well-related bay colt should make natural improvement. The sparingly raced four-year old LION KING just needed his comeback run at the Vaal three weeks ago and the capable chestnut will strip fitter today.

The brilliant three-year old SOQRAT returns to action on home turf after an incredible spell during the Cape summer where he triumphed in the Guineas before being narrowly beaten into 2nd in the Queen’s Plate. Of course the 3rd placed finisher of his last start Rainbow Bridge emerged victorious in the Met next time out. This imported bay colt is best weighted in this Grade 2 event and he should take a power of beating.

The speedy CASUAL WEAR dug deep to collar Elbi in a thrilling finish over this c & d six weeks ago and she appears well handicapped today. ULLA could be a real threat over her best distance though after she beat the same rival by half a length at the Vaal early last month. She was beaten by the top rating in June last year but has obviously improved significantly since though the concern is that she races on this track for the first time.

Jockey: D De Gouveia – Trainer:W Marwing
WILLIAM HENLEY expectedly enjoyed stepping up in distance as he stayed on for a good 3rd over ten furlongs on yielding ground last month and the bay son of Master Of My Fate should cope with the mile and a half today. He has obvious scope for further improvement.

An intriguing renewal of the 2nd leg of the Triple Tiara where many of the dozen entrants on display have stamina doubts which the likely solid tempo will severely test. The first selection CHITENGO has absolutely no stamina issues and she has improved smartly with the addition of blinkers. The bay daughter of Elusive Fort ran on again for 5th in the Guineas last month and she can reverse that form with many of those rivals. She has gate speed to overcome her awkward draw and her maiden triumph proved her worth from the front.
